French is full of vowels that are written together but we pronounce them with a single sound or also some final letters are not pronounced , while Italian words are pronounced just as they are written. It is true that Italian and Spanish are full of “fake friends” (same word but two different meanings ) that can create confusion in a conversation, but a lot of words are the same and have the same meaning as well.

@@iulian6859 Not "The old Valachia" but "Old Valach" and not for Bosnia, but for a region between todays Bosnia and Serbia. That would be the more accurate translation into English. In old Slavonic and Germanic languages Old Valach(s) was used to name the Celts and Gauls. And Novi Vlah (Novi Vlasi) singular and (New Valach(s)) plural, was used by South Slavs to name the Romans and all latinised/romanised people of the Balkans. Later the prefix "Novi" or "New" was lost so only Valach remained. Stari Vlah (Old Valach (person)) is still a geographic region from 6th-7th century even to this day in Serbia tho. Valachia was the name that the South Slavs used for Tara Romaneasca. The Romanian historian knew something and was on the right path but just misplaced some things :)

The Latin language for 9 was written "novem" and pronounced "nouem" It's like the Latin "Veni, vidi, vici" which in Latin is pronounced like "Ueni, Uidi, uici". V is the capital letter for U.

I don't know Italian. But I know Romanian, Russian, English, etc. Once, I was in airport, in Moscow, waiting for transfer, and I heard the announcement about a flight, in a seemingly Romanian language. I understood every word, and I thought it is indeed Romanian. Noticed the difference only when they reached to flight number, and then I "added 1 with 1", since the flight was to Milano, the language turned out to be Italian.

Me as a language learner and enthusiastic I could claim that Romanian is a beautiful language which is worth learning. Every single language has its own challenges because each one is unique at its way of being due to its fantastic history, evolution, cultural traditions and so on. They've been growing and developing as languages themselves. Today I decided to learn this language because of its similarities with Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese even though the language has remained too isolated from the four major Romance languages, because it contains a bunch of influences from Slavic languages such as Russian, probably Ukrainian as well, and also from other ones like German, Turkish, Hungarian, etc. That's why Romanian has a certain amount of loanwords from those languages, not only Latin vocabulary. Its geographic location played a crucial role to keep forming as a language with own identity. After all, it's relatively a straightforward and useful language to pick up. I'm just a beginner at it, and I'm really into language learning to keep on expanding my horizons in a limitless way. It has become my newest target language to take into account because I felt in love with it and I'm gonna dive into that wonderful language to know about its rich culture.
@danascully669810 ай бұрын
1. Romanian does not contain influences from the Russian language, nor from the Ukrainian language, but from South Slavonic, i.e. Serbian and Bulgarian. 2. Romanian does not have a "bunch" of influences from other languages. The lexicon of the Romanian language is 81% of Latin origin, 11% of supposed Slavic origin and the remaining 8% of Thraco-Dacian, German, Turkish, Hungarian, Indo-European origin. For example, the French language is much more distant from Latin than Romanian. These percentages are officially established by linguists, not by me. 3. Thank you very much for your appreciation of the Romanian language. Both the Spanish language and the other neo-Romance languages are all very beautiful.

although our language can be considered a latin language, the romanian people act and think like the balkan people even if geographically romania is not part of balkan peninsula only a small region called dobrogea. the fact is over the land of romania passed so many people and we got mixed a lot and it's childish to say that we are latin people. but modern romanians still say this because they want to be cool like the western latins. in my opinion, it doens't matter anymore. well of course it matters to know stuff from the past, but you have to be realistic and skeptical and look at this matter not that seriously... because if you do... well... fascism is allready rising in eastern europe. peace!

Sardinian language with many similar Romanian words non-existent in Latin. due to the common ancient origin, from the European Thracian people who occupied large areas of Europe and Asia and who had customs and a common language. I think salentino is even more similar to romanian than sicilian is.

@@ntnntl96 Salentino itself is a dialect of sicilian. And I heard that there is a almost dead language spoken in Castelmezzano wich is not part of the italio-dalmatian branch but of eastern romance branch.

I am Italian and I really love latin languages more than germanic, I am listening romanian songs to try improving my skills, for now I know only numbers and how to say basic things, but I can say you that we don't understand each other as we understand spanish or portugues people... for example a lot of people here that don't know spanish or portugues, can communicate with no problems! If one person speak italian and the other spanish, we would understand each other! also if we are not speaking the same language! With french and roumanian is different, the same thing say spanish people and pourtugues people that I know...
