You are not good if you are motivated by a reward (heaven) or fear (hell). Also, her husband was killed as an act of revenge for his role in antisemitic pogroms carried out in Russia. She didn't die after the mine blast. She survived with others and used her veil to bandage another more grievously wounded than her. Truly a Martyr!

So true Carey; the saint was found at the bottom of that mine shaft laying next to two unexploded grenades. Her body was found to be in corrupt. She was killed on the same day my Name's Day saint Fredrick of Utrecht was murdered on July 18th so I get to celebrate a double martyrs feast day! Ironically she was canonized by the Orthodox Church on July 5th my wedding anniversary! I'm Roman Catholic but as a gesture of ecumenical friendship I too celebrate her feast day. Sts. In a library book, forgot the name, I read about St. Elizabeth last year the commies didn't want to kill her in fact they praised her work. It was that vicious demoniac Lenin who ordered her execution along with her companions. Lenin died hard; even a communist official here in Chicago said so. The poor man died on his knees screaming and begging the people he murdered to forgive him. I hope he did repent and saved his soul though he'll have long time in Purgatory; beats the 'eternal furnace.'

И Ганина яма, где уничтожали царскую семью находится в 20 километрах от Екатеринбурга, тоже была там. В Алапаевске, где убили Елизавету Феодоровну не была. Но может когда нибудь побываю. She really was such a blessed soul, wasn't she? In our book we have a special chapter on Grand Duchess Elisabeth which includes a selection of letters by her to Tsar Nicholas II. Most of these letters are published for the first time in our book. If you are interested, you can learn more here: www.romanovs.eu/en-book

HOW cruel they were to kill them like that. The Romonovs and ELIZABETH did not deserve this. They are in heaven but the killers are most certainly not.
