At the battle of Hastings, William the conquer saw that Harald's men would break a little after every charge so. William told his men to charge and then act like they were breaking. When Harald's men saw this, the lesser trained troops broke formation and charged William's men. But when they did, William's men turned and surrounded them and cut them down destroying a massive amount of Harald's men. William then charged forward and many of Harald's men began to break off and flee. Except, Harald's nobles did not break and were holding out against William when Harald was shot in the eye with an arrow. Harald soon died and then the noble men broke and were slaughtered. In that one battle, the entire leadership of the English was destroyed and without leaders, William was able to conquer England and solidify his rule.

That round when we ran away worked perfectly. The Germans armor was on par with ours and their weapons (2 handed axes in particular) would cut through our shields and two shot us. So we figured we would kill time by charging, then when the Germans would form up we would turn and run, but the kill feed would have been the same even if we stood our ground.

In his account of the battle of Thermopylae Herodotus does specify that it was the Spartans who used the feint retreat. They would run away and the Persians would chase them thinking that the Spartans were fleeing. But then the Spartans would turn and reform cutting down the disorganized Persians.

Apollo you need to learn some commands for your team on mount and blade. like form wedge, follow me, on line, halt, forward, stay together, break off formation. You guys got to practice some kind of discipline. Your team is very effective in attack when you stay together in three's basically this your battle buddy all three of you watch each others back and the next three these are your battle buddies you guys stay together and so on.
