The Pantheon was actually paired with another building that most people forget about. The Pantheon was built at one end of a long boulevard, and at the other end was the Mausoleum of Augustus, which is also a circular building like the Pantheon. Unfortunately the boulevard has been built over with other buildings so you can no longer see the Mausoleum from the Pantheon, and the Mausoleum of Augustus is now in ruins. They are currently renovating the Mausoleum ruins to allow people to visit it.

If you want to really get into The Pantheon, its history and construction then I recommend "The Pantheon: From Antiquity to the Present". A series of essays edited by Tod A. Marder and Mark Wilson Jones. Cambridge University Press 2015. about 500 pages. It's the most exhaustive book I have ever come across on the subject. Also the best time to visit is the moment they open the doors in the morning...no tourist hordes.

The romans got their new and revolutionary construction material concrete so perfectly right the first time around that after a bunch of centuries it is still standing...our ultra-modern scientifically perfected over many decades concrete will desintegrate over a few short decades...at best 🤨🤨😂😂😂😂

This pantheon has been standing for less than 1900 years. The first and second pantheon no longer exist. when it was new it was outside of the obselete Servian Walls, In the Campus Martius only places of entertainment And Temples were allowed because of the frequent flooding. At least 5 trash dumps are in the vicinity today.

I wonder which are the two cities that precede Rome in the ranking of the most visited cities in the world; because, frankly, the Eternal City has so much history, culture, art and beauty that it is difficult to believe that two cities in the world precede it. But if you say so....
