On the cold water debate in your video…the cold water should come directly from your main water line, which will be quite cold. It’s definitely not room temperature and though it won’t be AS cold as your refrigerator water, it’s still going to be cold.

In Texas cold water does not come out cold in the summer. Our water temp coming out of the cold tap really depends on the temps outside.
@dw3578
@dw3578 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah not so much in TX, the cold water tap is generally verging on warm depending on how hot/how long it’s been hot
@courtneyb6189
@courtneyb6189 3 жыл бұрын
I’m so confused about the hot/cold water issue 😂 the faucet doesn’t control the temperature of the water, just the source of the water. So the hot will always come from the water heater and the cold will always come from the ground….. so it should be cold, or at least cold-ish depending on how warm the ground is/the season. In no way should it be “room temperature”

Heads up - I have a Hallman range and while it’s beautiful, I hate it! It has a super loud fan that automatically turns on while cooking. There is no way to turn it off and it continues even 20 minutes after the oven is off. I wish I had known this before buying:(

I have an oven like that and it drives me nuts. 30 minutes after it finishes it's still pumping heat into the kitchen. I don't understand the design of it. Luckily, it was in the house we bought and I'm replacing it in a year. I'll know not to get the Hallman. Thanks. 😄

Exactly, I'm so shocked every time! When she and Romeo started to demo the walls it was crazy for me to see that the walls are just wood planks and between them it's just...air. Seems way less of a durable option than brick, especially considering how extreme the weather can be in america, like hurricanes, tornados etc.
@Vacasa21
@Vacasa21 3 жыл бұрын
This varies a lot based on where you are in the US. Most new houses in Florida for example are built with cement because of hurricanes. Also, this is a very old house. A demo of a newer more modern home would look quite difference in most places in the US.

We live in a newer house, but whoever installed the floors put in a subfloor that's too thin, and new the floors are sagging in several areas, after about 12 years. We have a dirt crawlspace, and humidity comes up from that space, and this is in TX, where humidity can be even higher. Subfloors are very important. We are now going to have to remove all of our floors to replace the subfloor.

Best money i ever spent on my new kitchen. they instal a unit thingie under the counter that does all the magic. here is a UK link but i'm sure you can get them there as well. www.watercoolersdirect.com/boiling-water-taps/boiling-chilled-taps

MaCenna!🍐🌿funny enough I just found a blanket similar to yours but I’m wondering how to clean it? I live in the Spring Branch/Bulverde area but go through Fredericksburg often. I’m always hoping I’ll get to SEE you! Also I think you need to name your cottage and house something to do with a pear. Since this area was settled by German’s, it would be appropriate to call it Birne Häus (witch means Pear Cottage/House). Also the ranch I live on was settled by some German’s 165 years ago and they had brought pear seeds over with them. So there use to be a little orchard of pears out here 🍐 Love your content! Since moving here to Arizona, I’m usually grumbling daily about the water that comes out of our taps. It’s well water too, but even in the wintertime, it’s usually lukewarm. Thankfully we have a water dispenser on the fridge because I really don’t want to take up valuable refrigerator real estate with a huge water jug. Our well water in Pennsylvania was ice cold, and you had to run the hot water for two to three minutes to get actual hot water. Your water there is probably closer to our water here in AZ. I love your plumbing and appliance choices. I had wondered if you would go for unlacquered brass for that real old world look. Glad to see little Kinsley-give her a 💋 for me!

If you get your water from the citys pipes its going to be as cold as it can be in the pipes. The only thing you can do to keep the water as cold as possible is to have isolated pipes. That way the water doesent get warmer becaus of the warm climat. Feel free to ask more questions 🥰 As always, great video. Love following your journey at the same time as we are going on our own 😁

So this is a little bit indelicate but while the flush in the middle of the lid looks pretty - if you have a double flush situation it is hard to twist your arm back behind you to pull the knob up.

It's so very pretty, but I immediately zeroed in on the flusher in the center and thought yeah, no this is not going to work for me. LOL

hey! i was wondering if there is content you’ve created so far on your process of creating the plans of the cottage. i’m starting to think about building a tiny house and would love to start drawing up my own plans - but have no idea where to start or if there are apps/software that make the process easier

Hey dear, if you want cold water in bathroom the best way is to get a nice water tank that doesn’t heat up the stored water. That is what we do here in India as it gets very hot in summer. I hope this tip helps. 🤗
