We'll be there 4 full days (5 nights), so day 1 of your itinerary sounds good to start on the first full day. We'll probably take it easy and discover the neighbourhood on the afternoon we'll be arriving. It'll be a 15 minute walk from our Airbnb to the obelisk in St. Peter's Square, so easy peasy for day 2 of your itinerary, and we can go back to the Airbnb for lunch. Only thing, I have had two stent surgeries in 2019 and 2020, and my fractal ejection is at 37%, so I'm not sure climbing up the stairs to the dome is right for me... We may do the Capitoline Museums on our 4th full day in Rome... I'll have to talk it over with the missus when we plan our stuff.

Hi Elessya, I’m planning a last-minute trip to Rome in the first week of January, and I have three full days to explore. I’ve been devouring your videos-thank you so much for the helpful content! I plan to follow your suggested itinerary. I have a question about climbing the dome at St. Peter’s Basilica. I’m a bit claustrophobic and want to know if the space is too confined. Also, I noticed that the Vatican tours including St. Peter’s are quite expensive ($150 per person). My plan is to take a Vatican tour and then walk to the Basilica and wait in line, even though I know the line can be long. Do you think this is a good idea, or should I pay the extra money for the shortcut? Thank you!
@RomewiseАй бұрын
Thank you so much. I'm glad you are enjoying my videos. Regarding your questions: You can see what it's like to climb the dome here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGmVppWkqsyqfqs As for taking a tour - I am a big believer in tours when they are good and add value. I think being able to take the shortcut into the basilica is worth it, but this is subjective. So it's really up to you to decide if this is something you want to spend money on. The alternative is indeed spending more time logistically getting between the two sites, and yes, standing in line.

We’re visiting first week of October for 3 days. Thanks for this guide. If we are staying near Vatican City, do we need to use much public transport for this 3 day plan?
@Romewise2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. Yes, if you are staying near Vatican City, you will need to use public transportation for most of your visit except when you visit the Vatican. The metro red line A is the easiest to use and takes you to many points in Rome's center, but there are also buses, depending on where you are staying.

I sometimes hear of people's tours being canceled last minute, so is it safest to book directly with the official sites for my once in a lifetime trip? I am going during Jubliee and would hate to have a tour canceled, after I have spent all this time and money for this visit. Thanks so much for all your insight!!!
@Romewise3 ай бұрын
Yes, I recommend booking through the official sites if you just want an entry ticket or basic tour. If you want a more complete tour, you will have to book through a third party. The chances of your tickets being cancelled depend on the kind of visit you are looking for. Standard entry to the Colosseum is easy to come by and those tickets / tours are unlikely to be cancelled even through a third party. If you are looking for the highly sought after underground or night tickets, there is a huge demand and limited supply, so it's impossible for everyone to be able to get these tickets, and therefore, yes, sometimes those booked through a third party can be cancelled because they simply cannot get the tickets.

@@lilpenny1982 The Room of Constantine is one of the Raphael Rooms. However, it was under a long restoration and has only recently been visitable. I hope you'll come back to Rome to see it! You can see it in this video where I feature it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJbLiHRvltdgb5Isi=Oax4wzib7Ijw0LkA
