That's amazing news! I was extremely frustrated purchasing tickets for all the sights in Rome. I knew the real ticket price and wasn't able to buy it since the resellers bought them all! Vatican Museums should definitely follow! Thanks for running your channels Elyssa - it helped a lot and we had a great time in Rome last week.

Wow thank you so much. I didnt realise it would be this difficult to find the official ticket page. I was directed to these resellers/tour guide sites that were pricing it double. This makes the price so much more reasonable, and more than enough tickets for December

We booked tickets for our family of four (2A +2C) in October through the Coopculture link for small groups and school groups. No issues and plenty of options available. Kids tickets $0 emailed so no need to line up.

Which option did you choose for kids under 18?
@Romewise Жыл бұрын
It sounds like they booked for "small groups" which is actually not intended for families but it seems to have worked for them. As I mentioned in the video, you can't currently pre-book for kids under 18 for the standard Colosseum ticket. They removed that option since too many people were using it to simply book free tickets when they were not eligible. And while it is still an online option for the Full Experience Tour, when you go to book, there is no availability so I believe they removed it for this type of ticket also. As I mentioned in the video, the way to book for kids under 18 is to book your own regular-priced tickets, and then to go to one of the ticket counters to collect your free tickets for your kids. Make sure to have ID to prove they are eligible for free tickets, especially if they are teenagers. You should arrive around 30 - 40 minutes prior to your Colosseum entry time. @@estherlee4243

What great news. Unfortunately, we won't benefit as we visited Rome in October. I really hope to be able to visit another time. Btw, your tips about buying tips for the Pantheon came in very useful. I bought tickets when we arrived in the piazza and we walked straight in, past two very long queues. I don't know why more people don't realise this as there are QR codes in the piazza. Anyway it worked out brilliantly for us. Many thanks for your videos, I found them extremely useful. Forewarned is forearmed. Even our trip to St Peter's went well when we had to queue. We went later in the afternoon and waited for one hour before getting in. Perhaps we might try Florence for our next trip...

I went to the additional ticketbooth you mentioned and it was still over an hour wait. Still a lot shorter than the line in front of the colosseum. I think the ticket booth opens at 8:30 now as we were there at 8:45 and people were already buying tickets.

Yes, that ticket booth is still going to have a line, especially now as we move into peak season. But it does tend to be shorter than the line in front of the Colosseum. On the other hand, I still believe in purchasing your tickets in advance online to avoid all that. But I'm glad you were able to get tickets! Hope you had a good visit!

Thank you for this video. We want to do the night tour and are planning to book with Walks of Italy. Have you done their tour? Is it worth the extra cost compared booking through coop? Good to know about the super pass for the palantine Hill - we will definitely check this out! ❤
@Romewise Жыл бұрын
I have done many tours with Walks of Italy and I love them. I have not yet done their night tour. The difference with taking a tour through an agency is that they add more to the tour to make it a more complete experience. For example, one tour I took began at Piazza Venezia and we walked along the via dei Fort Imperiali as nightfall set in, and our guide gave us lots of great info about what we were seeing. So it depends on how much time and interest you have, and also if you want to spend the extra money. I do think it's worth it but it's up to you of course!

Hi I know this isn’t coliseum related but can you tell me if Vatican has an after hours tour besides Friday & Saturday night ones? I’m overwhelmed with tours and your the best person to ask, love your videos. I’ve only been there once in 2019 😃 thanks again! ❤
@Romewise Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for watching my video, and I'm happy to answer your Vatican questions. In early January, I will be making a new video about Vatican Tour updates....we still don't know all the changes coming in 2024. Some changes are already underway. This is to prepare for the Jubilee in 2025. First of all, the Friday/Saturday night tours are finished for 2023. They always went through the end of October. However, as of 2024, there will no longer be ANY LATE Friday/Saturday night tours. Once I see this is fully confirmed, I'll be updating all my Vatican content. Meanwhile, as of January 1, 2024, here are the changes to the Vatican Museums that we know are coming: * Tickets will go up from 17 Euros to 20 Euros. * Monday - Thursday, hours will be 8 AM - 7 PM, with last entry at 5 PM. * Friday - Saturday, + some high-request dates, hours will be 8 AM - 8 PM, with last entry at 6 PM. It is unclear at this time what other changes they will be making to their tour offerings. Currently, they offer the "Extra Time" tour, which begins close to closing time and finishes with very few people inside the Sistine Chapel. It includes a happy hour inside the Pinecone Courtyard. I hope they will keep this tour, perhaps moving the hour up a bit. They also currently offer a lot of early morning "pre-opening" tours, and I hope they will keep these, as well. But we don't know yet. You can see their full schedule here: www.museivaticani.va/content/dam/museivaticani/pdf/utilities/calendario_2023_2024_musei.pdf For the tours I am talking about, and to get an idea of what's available right now, you might want to check these videos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6nYn5R-nrCZZ68 kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4G5dHyAjb2DpJo kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJ2QqoF-brCpeK8

Thank you for your video. I clicked on the link for your recommended colosseum tour but it doesn't show one specific tour/guide, it shows all available tours. Was that on purpose? Is there a specific tour company you recommend for the colosseum?
@Romewise3 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. Yes, that is correct. I link to GetYourGuide which is a tour umbrella website. They do not sell their own tours, but rather list tours by local companies. The reason I like them is that you can compare options across the various companies and look for what you want regarding date/time, group size, price, reviews, etc. Most tour companies in Rome are trying to do a good job of giving visitors a great experience. If they didn't, they wouldn't stay in business for long. And often, it just comes down to the luck of the specific person you get as your guide.

Hi everyone, great advice once again from Elyssa about what ID to carry. Don't take your passport leave it in you accommodations safe, use your driving licence as to be honest if you are unlucky to be pick pocketed it is easier to replace a driving licence than your passport. Thanks Elyssa another great video.
@mooingAlong Жыл бұрын
Strongly suggest to bring your passport with you always when in Italy mainly because of the random checks the police does especially when you are in Termini. Some of them accept a photocopy of the passport and some are ok with your driver's license.
@jemmajumbs Жыл бұрын
We got stopped for an id check at Ossiense station early on a Saturday am so it's not just termini. We were heading for the airport anyway so had our passports. Otherwise I used my driving licence, but my 14 year old obv doesn't have one of those so we need his passport.
@Romewise Жыл бұрын
I know this has been debated and discussed online, including in our Romewise Facebook group. But no police out in the middle of Rome need to see your passport. If they ask to see ID, a driver's license will do.
@Romewise Жыл бұрын
Thank you, Peter! Yes, I am hoping to clear up this issue as I know it's a big question for a lot of people. We ran a B&B for 17 years and I can tell you from experience that it's actually easier to replace your passport in Rome than it is to replace your driver's license. In Rome, we have all the embassies and their consulates can help you to replace a stolen passport (although it's no fun to have to go first to the police to file a report, and then to the consulate and pay that fee and have to do all that waiting.) But driver's licenses are state-issued IDs and there is no way to replace them easily while you are overseas. The goal is to not be pick-pocketed of course! In any case, at the Colosseum, they confirmed with me that an ID on your smartphone or tablet will also work. So you can scan your passport or driver's license and then leave them both back in your hotel room. Thanks as always for your kind support, Peter!

If you are coming in August, you probably know it will be hot. It won't be as crowded as you might think, precisely for this reason. I would recommend a small-group or even private tour of the Vatican for many people. It's a great way to enjoy the sites without getting distracted by big crowds. A gold cart tour (morning or evening) is also ideal for keeping you from walking around in the hot sun. Have a wonderful trip and cruise!

It also appears that Firefox does not seem to work properly with the website so I would use another browser.

Hi thank you for your videos, they are absolutely fantastic. So much information and so well done! We are going to attempt to get tickets for the full experience online for our trip in July. So for example, if we want to book tickets for July 24, we should go to the website 30 days in advance. What time do ticket sales begin in Rome time? I assume that I would need to wake up and purchase in New York time. And when ticket sales open, do they release the entire day’s inventory? Or tickets are released by timed buckets? Also, when trying to purchase on the website it says to purchase for “number of participants”. Is that referring to adults only, and we can still pick up free child tickets at the ticket office? Or do we include the children in number of participants? Thank you for your help!
@Romewise6 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind comments. I'm glad you find my videos helpful. To get Full Experience tickets, you will have to be vigilant and patient. Yes, tickets are released 30 days in advance, but it's not always exactly at the hour. And no, they don't release them all at once so you can just keep checking back. If you are getting free tickets for your under-18-year old child, and you are getting a standard ticket, you just get the adult tickets and then pick up your children's tickets inside the monument at the ticket counter there. If you are getting free tickets for your child for the Full Experience, you have to book the ticket for them and provide their names. This is the option under "Free Ticket" just beneath the standard ticket price option.

Unfortunately my tour guide just canceled my morning reservation for May 19. I went ahead and purchased the 24 hour tickets myself. I’m seeing very long lines - can you clarify the lines? Are there lines for ticket purchasing and another line for entrance? The lines are very worrying and now that my “skip the line” tour is cancelled, I don’t know if I have time to just wait in line
@Romewise7 ай бұрын
The ticket you just purchased allows you to skip the line to buy tickets on site. That's what the long lines are. There are also lines of people with entry tickets to go inside, but those lines move fast. You also have to go through security, but again, that goes quickly. if you already have a ticket, you do "skip the line" - the line to purchase tickets. The ticket you had that was cancelled 8sorry to hear that!) allowed you to skip the purchasing line, it would not have allowed you to skip the entry or security lines. I suggest getting to the Colosseum about 20 minutes in advance but don't worry, you will not have long to wait in those entry lines. Enjoy your visit!

Really great information and very timely as we will be there in April 2024! I am hoping for some clarity on the Full Experience ticket and the Roman Super Pass. Do we buy both of these or just one? With the full Experience ticket, you already get access to the Roman Forum and all the SUPER sites. The Roman Forum Super Pass is a separate ticket and does not include the Colosseum. @Romewise9 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes, when I filmed the video, they still allowed for booking kids' tickets online. They removed that option and now, you just book your own tickets, and then for your kids under 18, go to the Colosseum entrance and you can collect your kids' tickets on site. If you go to the ticket counter and see a long line, just tell someone at the front you have want to collect kids' tickets and they should let you do that without waiting in the long queue. Otherwise, you can also go inside the Colosseum past security and collect your kids' tickets there. I know this seems a little confusing. I am waiting for them to change ticket providers (probably in May) and will see if they change the procedure before I make an updated video about how to get kids' tickets.

Thank you! All skip the line tickets mean you skip the line to purchase tickets. You will have to wait in a small line of people who have tickets like you, for that time slot. And you cannot skip the line to go through security, but this line is short and moves quickly.

Your videos are SO helpful- Thank you! Regarding Colosseum tickets, I've been looking at the Park Member pass for my husband and myself. Am I correct in assuming that if I buy the pass and book a time into the Colosseum that I will be able to access the arena and underground as well without an additional timeslot? As you said, the full experience tickets are nearly impossible to get (it seems to me anyway) so I am trying to figure out the best way to see it all.
@Romewise7 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! Glad you find my content helpful. No, you do not get any special access to the underground or arena by purchasing the membership pass. There is simply limited availability and it's first-come, first-serve. You can use your pass to not PAY for a ticket, because it's included. But availability is the same for everyone. I find the pass useful because I go to the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill A LOT. If you will visit often enough to make it cost-effective, then it's great, but I don't recommend purchasing it with the sole purpose of getting any special access to tickets. May I suggest that at the very least, you purchase a regular colosseum ticket? They are easy to get, and you really see a LOT. You can see INTo the underground from the 1st and 2nd levels. You can also see the arena floor. So at the very least, you will see most of what people with the Full Experience tickets see. The next easiest ticket to get is the arena floor, as it has the least restrictions in terms of space and availability. Hope you have a great visit!

Any news on getting Coliseum and Vatican tickets? I'm going in July please. Who are the new sellers and when do i need to log on to purchase for certain days? I was hoping it'd be easier and more straightforward now.
@Romewise7 ай бұрын
Yes, there is a new ticketing agency for the Colosseum and you can now book directly on the official Colosseum page: ticketing.colosseo.it/ For the Vatican, you can still book direclty on the Vatican Museums page as before: www.museivaticani.va/content/museivaticani/en.html Colosseum tickets are bookable up to 30 days in advance and Vatican Museums tickets are bookable up to 60 days in advance. You can also find more availability and longer in advance by booking through a third party, but if you book more than 30 days ahead for the Colosseum or more than 60 days ahead for the Vatican, you are taking a (very small) chance that the agency will not be able to get the tickets and your booking could be cancelled. Mostly this does not happen but since they also have to get their tickets in the same timeframe as you, there is always a small possibility that supply cannot meet the demand and this is why some people who book far in advance may find their tickets or tours cancelled.

@RomeWise Is the S.U.P.E.R sites located inside of Palatine Hill or are they located elsewhere. I was wondering if I could visit Palatine hill on day 1 and then the colosseum and the S.U.P.E.R sites the next day with an FULL EXPERIENCE TICKET? If they are located inside the Hill, is the Roman Forum also inside the Palatine hill or could I maybe visit that for another day?
@Romewise9 ай бұрын
The S.U.P.E.R. sites are inside the park made up of the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. They are extra sites that you couldn't visit without a Full Experience ticket or a Roman Forum SUPER pass. So what you are trying to do would not be possible, as once you enter the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill, there is no-reentry with the same ticket. I advise you to do one of two things: 1) Take one full day (or at least give yourself as long as you can) to visit the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill. Plan ahead and figure out what you want to see. Make sure to note opening/closing days of some of the SUPER sites. Visit the Colosseum the day prior or after (it must be within one consecutive day.) 2) Visit the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill all on one day to get the lay of the land. Then purchase a Roman Forum SUPER pass (18€) which does not include the Colosseum, and visit the park again another day (does not have to be consecutive with your Colosseum visit since this is a new ticket), and really dive into the SUPER sites. @Romewise7 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! I'm glad you found it helpful! With the Full Experience, you have to visit the Colosseum at the time you have booked. Then, you can visit the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill up to 24 hours on either side of that visit. So if your Colosseum visit is at 2pm on a Wednesday, you could enter the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill from 2PM on Tuesday up to 2PM on Thursday. Please note there is no re-entry so once you enter the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill you should have a plan and know what you want to see. You can find out more about visiting the SUPER sites (available with your FULL Experience ticket) in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJerm3mGqsZqjZI

@Romewise8 ай бұрын
They sell Colosseum tickets exactly one month (to the hour) in advance. You cannot book for the Free Sunday - it's first-come, first serve. I highly recommend against visiting on this day as it's just a lot of chaos, huge lines and crowds, and in my opinion, a waste of your precious vacation time. Such a thankful video! Can you please help to answer my question? Once you get the ticket at coopculture, do you still have to stand in line to go to ticket booth to collect kid's free ticket or you are simply allowed to go to ticket booth - basically are the tickets skip-the-line?
@Romewise8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. I've answered this to others that have commented on this video, as it's a very popular topic. I realize it's not clear on the Colosseum (Coopcutlure) website how to get tickets for kids. When I made this video, it was the case that you had to book your kids online. They removed that option shortly after I made the video. The way it works is you purchase your tickets and then go to the Colosseum ticket booth and collect your free tickets for your kids. There is a ticket booth in front of the Colosseum and there will be a huge line. Go to the front and tell them you need kids tickets. They might let you bypass that line. Alternatively, and what I would do, you can just go inside the Vatican and once you pass security and BEFORE you actually pass your ticket through the scanner, you will ticket booths INSIDE the Colosseum. There you can also collect your kids' tickets. Have a great time!

Hi, Wondering if Coop Culture offers "Skip the line tickets" ... or how to go about getting a skip the line ticket without booking a guided tour. Thank you
@Romewise10 ай бұрын
Yes, basically when you buy any ticket in advance, you skip the line on site to purchase tickets. You save yourself a lot of time that way. With your pre-booked ticket, you only have to go to the main entrance. You may find a small queue ahead of you as everyone MUST go through security and there is no way to skip that line. But I've visited the Colosseum at least 4 times in the past 7-8 months, and my wait for the security line has never been more than 5 minutes.

I would like to buy tickets to Colosseum for May 2024 but there is no option to buy them on Coopculture. Insted of that there is a link on Colosseum Archeological Park's website but there is no option to buy thet too. Where could I purchase those tickets?
@Romewise7 ай бұрын
There is now a new website for purchasing Colosseum tickets: ticketing.colosseo.it/ Tickets are only available up to 30 days in advance so if you are looking more than 30 days in advance on this official site, you won't find them yet. I suggest to keep checking back from exactly 30 days prior to your visit date.

Great video! Thanks Quick question. I got my online tickets (adults), but I have to collect my 3 year old kid free ticket from the booths. Will I have to do the standard queue? or Is there some kind of "fast line" to pick up free tickets?
@Romewise9 ай бұрын
There is not a fast lane for picking up kids' tickets, but when you see the long line, you can go to the front and tell them you just want to pick up a free ticket for your child. They should let you jump ahead. Alternatively, you can also collect your kid's ticket right inside the Colosseum just after security. The bottom line is you just need your own tickets and you should not have to wait in a long queue to get your tickets for your child.

You'll easily find standard entry tickets even closer to your date. Thanks for supporting my work! When you purchased your tickets online, you should have received an email. That email has a pdf attachment. In the case of the Colosseum, that is your ticket. In the case of the Vatican, you have to exchange that pdf for a physical ticket. Show your pdf (on your phone or tablet) to the guards at the entrance and they will let you in. Go through security and then head to one of the many ticket counters and show them the pdf and they will give you the physical ticket you need to go in.

Thanks for watching. You should show up at about 8:30/8:45. There is 15 minutes' leeway on either side of your ticket, and you'll need to contend with a short line of others like you who also have tickets at this time, plus the line for security. The entrance is very easy to spot, don't worry. There is only ONE entrance for individual visitors and that's for visitors WITH tickets. There is a ticket booth OUTSIDE the colosseum for people who want to TRY to purchase tickets for a same day visit, but then once they have their tickets, they will go to the same line you will use, the line for ticket holders (there is one separate entrance and that is for tour groups.) The very long queues you see are to purchase tickets. You already have one so you don't have to wait in that line. But you will have a short line of others who have the same time slot as you. Then you must go through security. But both of these lines are quick and you should be inside within 10-15 minutes. With the Full Experience ticket, you can visit the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill within 24 hours of your Colosseum time slot, so up to 24 hrs the day prior or 24 hrs the day after. Just note there is no re-entry so once you enter this park. you can stay until closing but you can't go in a 2nd time. Enjoy!

Do the reseller/tours include the super sites? None of them advertise as such
@Romewise Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching my videos! Yes, whenever you purchase a Full Experience ticket, which means a ticket to the Colosseum Arena or the Colosseum Underground+Arena, it includes a ticket to the Roman Forum/Palatine Hill that also includes access to the SUPER sites. On the other hand, I do not know of any tours that also TOUR you through the SUPER sites. For tours of the SUPER sites, you'd need to hire a private guide. But you definitely will have access to the SUPER sites themselves. So if you book a tour that includes the Roman Forum/Palatine Hill, and you also want to visit the SUPER sites, make sure to book a tour that visits the Colosseum first, and then when your tour of the Roman Forum/Palatine Hill is done, just stay inside the park and continue on your own to visit the SUPER sites.

How bad are the lines to enter (waiting times) if one gets online tickets to the Colosseum with designated entry time (on a weekday morning by mid May if that helps)?
@Romewise9 ай бұрын
If you have tickets, then the only lines you have to stand in are: 1) the line with other ticket holders like you 2) the security line Both of these move quickly and you should be inside within 10-15 minutes.

If I book a ticket online like the full experience ticket, will I be stuck in a massive queue? I’m trying to work out if it’s worth getting a pass like the OMNIA or Roma pass?
@Romewise7 ай бұрын
The massive queues are for people waiting to purchase tickets for that day. When you book a ticket online, you do not have to wait in that queue. However, you will have a small queue of others like you who have tickets in the same time frame. There is also a small queue for security, and you cannot avoid that. So by buying a ticket in advance, you avoid the massive queues, and the smaller queues you have to wait in will only take around 5-10 minutes.

I will take my state issued license but no way am I taking my passport anywhere else lol ❤😊 So if you buy your tickets ahead time, where do you go? Or do you still have to stand in that line?
@Romewise10 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for watching. Yes, a government issued photo ID is sufficient for Colosseum tickets. When you show up at the Colosseum, there is only one place to enter. You'll see staff there checking people's tickets and ID's and then you'll go inside the monument and go through security. Give yourself about 15 minutes prior to your ticket time.

I’m a bit Concerned about use of outside tour operators given potential for cancellation if they can’t acquire enough tickets for entry. Is this common? Are there some operators that are less risk than others? Thx
@Romewise9 ай бұрын
Yes this is an issue. MOST people do not have their tours cancelled but there is a supply and demand issue and yes, some unlucky few will wind up with their tour cancelled or at least changed to a different tour. There is not one operator better at this than another. I did a video about this topic here, and you can learn more and what to do if it happens to you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f56VqayfnNFlr5I

We have booked a tour of the Colosseum and Roman forum with a tour guide. We really want to see the spots with a tour guide, but their ticket does not include the supersites. The supersites look well worth a visit. Is there a ticket that would allow us to revisit the Roman forum just to see the supersites on our own. Would this be the Roman Forum Superpass?
@Romewise11 ай бұрын
It's true, I don't know of any tour that includes the SUPER sites. They are absolutely worth a visit! I recommend you take your tour to get the basic information. Then purchase the Roman Forum SUPER pass which does not include the Colosseum, and go on your own on a separate day to visit as many of the SUPER sites as possible. @@Romewise Thank you! Can you please explain what the Didactic Visit is? (34 euros) Does this mean that a guide takes you through the Colosseum and you do the other sites on your own?

Yes, Didactic Visit simply means you have a guide with one of the staff at the Colosseum who takes you through the Colosseum itself. It does not include a tour of the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill. @@lylac391

Thank you so much for this video. Its the most comprehensive ever. Plus it helps to see which ticket you're referring to by following the mouse. Question, so if i purchase my ticket online, i still have to line up at the entrance with the crazy crowds to get my daughter's free ticket? So I'll still be stuck in the long lines and the purpose of purchasing online is defeated? Would it make sense to just purchase a ticket for her? Although free is always better 😂
@Romewise10 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for your kind comments. To get the free tickets for your kids, I advise purchasing your tickets and then on the day of your visit, show up about half hour early and go to the line. There are people working there at the front of the line who can direct you as to where to pick up your kids' tickets. FYI the line at the Roman Forum is usually much shorter than the one at the Colosseum. Also, I believe you can collect your kids' tickets directly inside the Colosseum. To be sure, ask at the front of the line as I mentioned. Bottom line, you should not have to wait in that super long line to collect your kids' tickets.

That's very kind of you! I'm not a licensed tour guide so I don't give tours. For now, you are too early to book Colosseum tickets for next May, at least through CoopCulture, but you can certainly book through an agency. I hope you have a wonderful visit!

Is it safe to book a tour through walks of Italy or the Roman guy? Is there a risk of not getting tickets and the tour being canceled?
@Romewise Жыл бұрын
I have taken tours with both companies and both are excellent. Any tour company that sells you Colosseum tickets more than 30 days in advance is selling you a future ticket they plan to get when tickets are released. If it's for an Underground or Night tour, especially for high-season dates, there is a small chance they might not be able to get those tickets in which case your tour would be cancelled. But MOST of the time, tours are not cancelled. It just does happen to some unlucky people because the supply is lower than the demand. You could book one of these tours and make sure they have a free-cancellation policy. Then try getting tickets through CoopCulture and if you can get them, you could cancel your tour. On the other hand, I am a big fan of guided tours and I do recommend you having an excellent guide for the Colosseum, as there is so much history. The Colosseum guides are hit or miss but when you book through a tour company, they care a lot that you have a good experience so their guides tend to be more consistently excellent.

Hi .. my kid is 5 yr old and we are going in August.. If i have to collect her free ticket at the ticket booth , wouldn’t there be long 1 hour + line ups to collect my kids tickets ? Thank you Also (2) do you think strollers for kids inside the colosseum can be taken and are allowed ?
@Romewise8 ай бұрын
Yes, I know this is a bit confusing. I have answered this question that others have also had. Strollers are not forbidden inside the Colosseum, but it can be very difficult to get around both the Colosseum and the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill with one. You would need to use the elevator inside the Colosseum, and there are a few ramps in the Palatine/Forum, so it would be best for you (to see more) if you could bring a stroller that easily folds and fold it up when it's hard to roll it. Have a great time!

Wait, so if I book a ticket for 2nd March I have to visit Palatine hill and Forum before 2nd March 4pm? Not after? I thought the first visit should be colosseum?

If your Colosseum ticket is for 2 March, you can visit the Palatine Hill / Roman Forum anytime within 24 hours of your 2 March booking. I am guessing your Colosseum booking is for 4pm on March 2? If so, you could visit the Palatine Hill /Roman Forum anytime earlier in the day of March 2, or anytime until 4pm of March 3. I hope that helps.

I am trying to book book tickets for the Full Experience ticket with access to the Arena but for the Full Experience ticket with access to the Arena there is no option to choose free tickets for kids under 18 but for the FULL EXPERIENCE Attico you can choose free tickets for kids. What I have to do to book Full Experience tickets with access to the Arena for my kids? Thank you and I love your videos.

No, you don't need to wait in a long line if you have a ticket. Everyone must go through security so there is no avoiding that line, but usually it's not more than 10 minutes or so. But by booking in advance online, you will save yourself the huge line at the ticket booths.

@@ericR1999 If you have never visited the Colosseum, believe me, even a standard entry ticket will allow you to see A LOT. You will still see the 1st and 2nd tiers of the Colosseum plus all the inner rings. And from those levels, you can down into the underground and also see the arena, both from afar as well as up close. The ticket also includes entry to the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill and there is SO MUCH to see there, much more than what you see in the Colosseum. And if you want, you can easily upgrade (4€) your Roman Forum / Palatine Hill ticket to include the SUPER sites which are even more amazing! But if you really want one of the FULL experience tickets, keep trying. Also shoot for the Arena floor ticket as it's the easiest of all 3 of the Full Experience tickets you can get (more supply.) Finally, you could book a tour through a third party. Just know that there is a supply/demand issue with underground and attic tickets, so tickets to these can be over-sold /over-promised and sometimes, a tour company that sells you one of these tickets more than 30 days out (when they don't yet have the ticket in hand) will have to cancel if they cannot get ahold of these high-demand tickets.

I get up early than my wife nd kid and would like to walk over with the 7 min walk and start my days in the forum at 8:30. It looks like there is some sort of ticket for that in the Super Forum pass maybe under the name Gratuito Roma Pass but it says, “Only for Roma Pass holders (first 2 entrances for Roma Pass 72h; first entrance for Roma Pass 48h).” Also, a Ridotto Pass, “ Only for Roma Pass holders (from the 3rd entrance for Roma Pass 72h; from the 2nd entrance for Roma Pass 48h).” I did notice an Italian FULL EXPERIENCE - UNDERGROUND LEVELS AND ARENA still available. Could I pick those up just to follow the group downstairs are is that forbidden? Thanks again. You’re a lovely cheerful person. Cheers Eric

So, now that all the tickets are nominative, tour companies can no longer buy blocks of tickets? So if the tickets are sold out there is no option? This is scary, is it true?
@Romewise9 ай бұрын
I don't think that's quite the way it works. It's my understanding that the tour companies have agreements with CoopCulture allowing them to purchase large blocks of tickets. Once they reseller those tickets to their customers, they will add their customers' names to the tickets. I would not give up hope! Tickets are often released in batches so if you don't see availability for what you want, keep checking back!

A travel tip I have always used. Make a photo copy of your identification pages of your passport and carry that with you when you are abroad leaving the original in the safe or other secure location at the hotel. This way if you are stopped by the police and asked to check your passport you have that copy (this is a common scam for pick pockets so double protection). If its legitimate they will go with you to the hotel or it will chase them off either way win. Then if you want you can carry your home countries ID card or drivers license as a secondary official backup without risking your passport being lost or stolen.
@Romewise6 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing this travel tip. I do the same and suggest the same to visitors. There is a huge debate online as to whether or not you need to walk around Rome with your passport and the answer is no, you do not. You can do as you mentioned. But some people feel very strongly that they have to carry their passport so I guess that's up to them! Thanks again for sharing!
