Regardless of what you think of Democrats, the Republicans have run most of the honest and centrist good old fashioned Republicans out of the party. You have shown your authoritarian leanings by ordering him to edit his comment because it doesn't agree with your view of politics. Do you understand how bad that sounds? Prophetic words From Mitty. I dont agree with Romney most of the time, but I usually come away thinking he's mostly a principled man. He's a republican I respect because before all else, the constitution is paramount and for him it seems, what's right is right; even is a matter goes against his ideology, he does the right thing. I could be wrong but that's the impression I get.

Yes, he's the old fashioned type of Republican who you can discuss things with, and then go and have dinner with and talk about non-political things. He's the kind of guy who has the country's interest at heart, even if he doesn't necessarily come to the same conclusions. With a lot of these MAGA guys (and more than a few Dems too) you feel as if their primary concern is themselves, and the country be damned. It's the selfishness that gets to me. It seems that not a whole lot of people have the country as their highest priority, and "by the way, if you don't agree I won't talk to you ever again" attitude. I don't get that vibe anymore that we're all Americans with a common interest of building on what we have anymore. Sad. Really sad. God I hope the Republicans can get back on the track again, but gosh I do not see it happening right now when a certain group of them seems dead set on shrinking the big tent.
@Chompchompyerded
@Chompchompyerded 8 ай бұрын
@@rosemarieroth1984 There were a few of those guys, but they've all died or been marginalized by the MAGA wing. John Kasich, though not a senator, was another principled Republican. So was McCain (who the MAGA heads love to hate, even though he's dead). Didn't agree with him on much of anything, but I sure respected him. Going back a ways there were others. Howard Baker comes to mind. You have to be old like me to remember him though. Adam Kinzinger is on the list too. He, along with Liz Cheney, were willing to give their seats in Congress to do the right thing. History will judge them kindly, but judge the MAGA crowd harshly. The fact that MAGA heads are threatening people who are prosecuting, judging, and or being called for jury duty just shows who corrupt and brutish that movement is. They are straight up anti-representative democracy, and they have no respect for the legal system. They are selfish way beyond a fault. The crazy thing is that if they get what they're asking for, they'll be the first to whine when it doesn't work out the way they think it will.

He's even more spineless than I thought. Principled in words only. His voting record and actions reveal a sycophant. He should stand and fight for the institution and be proud of the injuries he receives.

I have a bumper sticker from 2012. It says "Romney Believe in America". It was left over from the previous owner. I am not a Republican, and I voted for Obama in 2012. I was going to remove it by then Trump became president. One of the only Republicans willing to publicly criticize him was Mitt Romney so I left it on. After he was the only one who voted to convict after the first impeachment I realized that he really does believe in America. The sticker is still there.
