I think an interesting match up would be the Ferengi against the Vidians. I strongly suspect the Ferengi would win without much of a contest. The Ferengi would quickly contact the Vidians, offer to sell them a large number of Cardassians for harvesting. They would cut a deal that was almost too good to believe. After the Vidians died from the defective body parts, the Ferengi would take their ships.

The Romulans - especially a Tal Shiar ship - would have made more deals than Janeway did. For example, they likely would have negotiated a technology sharing deal with the Kazon with the Caretaker's Array and not given a damn about the Ocampa as a whole, though I could see them bringing some on board for study and to utilize their telepathic talents. The arrangement would work up to the point where the Romulans would see it to their advantage to betray the Kazon and make off with the Caretaker's technology and some Ocampa, probably with the help of another Kazon Sect that they negotiate another deal with and continue sowing discord among the Kazon Sects as they go, getting them to battle more among themselves than going after their Warbird.

3:20 Only reason Voyager ever had trouble with the Vidians, when they weren't anchored in place by a quantum duplicate of themselves, was because the show was still pretending to care about torpedo use at that point. A sustained volley of photons would've crippled a Vidian ship based on their actual on-screen performance.

Doesn't the Romulan ship have a singularity for its power generation? Is it feasible that they simply cloak and use their warp drive at cloaked cruise speed to steadily go back home? Like the Vulcans they live quite a long time. An 80 year journey might not be so bad in their eyes. Probably good way to scope out future conquests. Although if it happened around the time of Voyager, they would eventually return home with their home system destroyed by a supernova. That would be a shitty way to return home after spending 80-100 years under cloak at warp 8 (I remember that episode called Tin Man from TNG said under cloak they can't go very fast without being detected. Warp 8 or something.)

I think the Romulans would have just floated around the delta quadrant cloaked for the majority of their trip back. But I’m sure they would have ambushed a good few ships on the way, for tech and supplies.

As technologically backwards as a good chunk of the Delta Quadrant was, staying off the radar just seems like a good strategy for the Romulans. They have a quantum singularity for a power source, so they will never run out of fuel like Voyager, and thus never need replicator rationing either. Sure, a Warbird is slower than Voyager by a long-shot, but they don't need to stop for fuel, stop for food, and with the cloaking device they'd likely be able to slip by "big bads" much more closely and stop less for repairs. With as large as the ship is it could also be better as a generational ship. Flip on the cloaking device, make a beeline home. I bet it would be a much more boring trip than what Voyager had.

4:10 Omg Deadlock. The one episode I watched as a young adult i could never rewatch until very recently. I grew up with stuff like the walking dead in my teens (which I probably really shouldn't have done) but that was by far not as disturbing as that voyager episode was to me. Even tho you don't really see much in terms of gore it is just my imagination that runs wild with that kind of body horror, same with the episode where belana gets split in 2 and one of the vidiians wears the face of one of the victims. The scene were the vidiians broke into sickbay, and you later see the aftermath where they were ripping out the organs of the killed... damn.

I agree about the Vidian's. That one Vidian scientist who fell in love with the Dr. She said not all of them were bad. Yes a lot were pure evil. I mean hell they were willing to kill Naomi Wildman for her organs. Until the Doctor and Harry saved her. Yes it was actually in the episode Deadlock. You are right the episode "The Voyager Conspiracy" is where Seven found out that a Cardassian ship was pulled into the Delta Quadrant and don't remember if it was mentioned it was sent home or not. Even one on one just one Vidian ship proved a lot for Voyager to handle. The Kazon on the other hand yeah Voyager had no problem. Unless they were attacked by three or more of their capital ships all at once. Like in the episode "Basics (Part 1)" when Seska conspired with Maje Culluh and his faction to take over Voyager. No surprise that a Wardbird was able to take out a small fleet of Kazon ships.

One on one I think the Intrepid class would win against a warbird. It's agile enough to avoid the forward weapons arc, yet has the phaser power of a Galaxy class ship, and type 6 photon torpedoes.

Romulan plasma torpedos ARE stronger than quantum torpedos, partly because they are a different technology, where the plasma envelops the material it hits and weakens it, forcing an implosion; at close range it outdamages hits done by any quantum.

Tbh romulan warbird without any plot armor to both sides would squash a voyager. It was said in TNG and shown that one forward disruptor volley takes down Enterprises D shields to 30%. So even adjusting upgrades to time (only for Fed's, and making romulans not advance or upgrade at all) voyager's shields could at best be equall to TNG's shields (but on 99,9% they were significantly weaker). Also nice that this model of D'deridex at least has some weapons but sadly not in the right places, as then it wouldnt be possible to sit in his blind sides almost whole time.

@Jarsia 17 күн бұрын
If for no other reason than possessing a cloak, a trip through the delta quadrant would be much easier in a Warbird. Plus with a much larger crew and way more space on board, not to mention the efficiency of the singularity core, I expect the Warbird would have an easier time being self sufficient on such a long voyage. Unfortunately, they'd need to be. Warbirds are slower than Galaxy class ships, and therefore much slower than Voyager. Good thing romulans live a long time.
@T0ffik1
@T0ffik1 Күн бұрын
Dont forget that all ships could hold up high speed only for not that big periods of time. So the total difference would be much much smaller (possibly warbird could be in total faster, as the effectiveness of singularity core + tbh i dont know how long both ships can go on cruiser speeds). But Warbird would sure have some problems with escaping situations that might be overwhelming him (while cloak wouldnt be effective). Also the sheer size of this ship could force more agressive reactions from races (as bigger ship = bigger threat).
@Jarsia
@Jarsia Күн бұрын
@@T0ffik1 It stands to reason that the maximum speed and top cruising speed are proportional. Tin Man showed us a warbird literally burning out it's engines trying to keep up with the Enterprise. My guess would be a trip between 100-150 years for a warbird at it's top sustainable speed.
@T0ffik1

@Jarsia
@Jarsia 9 сағат бұрын
@@T0ffik1 Give 1 example where a ship has a higher sustainable cruising speed but a lower top speed. I'm quite certain there aren't any. Nor would it make the slightest bit of sense. Tin Man made it very clear that the galaxy class can outrun a warbird, and the Intrepid class was the fastest starfleet ship at launch. A warbird would not get back faster than Voyager. The singularity core is irrelevant, it only provides power, the warp engines themselves couldn't handle it.

The D'deridex would be an ideal choice of ship to take into the DQ for a long range Solo mission. Quantum Singularity Reactor requires only deuterium plasma as fuel which can be obtained anywhere, its cloaking device would eliminate the need for a lot of fights Voyager had to engage, Far more crew and crew facilities will deal with issues like sharing the holodeck between 150 people 😂, Larger compliment of Auxiliary vessels and shuttlecraft and finally being a stronger combat ship than an Intrepid Class

Badger, is this Warbird a certain mod for the game? Or does it come with some of the big mods that you've been using to show us these ships. I noticed this model is SUBSTANTIALLY better than the vanilla Warbird from B.C. However, there is a visible lack of detail on this model, and some pieces of it are disproportionate to the Warbird in TNG (such as the aft, as well as the nacelles, both of which to me look bloated compared to the sane sections on the real Warbird). Anyway, cool vid, as always. Never doubted the Romulans for a second. The D'deridex is my second favorite design in all of Star Trek, coming right after the "D." Oh, and about the Vidians. It may seem harsh, but I never really had any sympathy for their cause. As you said, they may have had a terrible disease, but they way they went about tackling it was so vile and evil. I mean, remember "Faces," that one episode where Tom, B'Elanna, and Pete Durst get captured by the Vidians? They not only use them as forced laborers, but the head Vidian, Sulan, friggin' kills Durst and graphs his face onto his own in order to look more attractive to the Klingon half of B'Elanna. That's some fuckin' Joseph Mengele type shit right there, man. Nah, if there had not been a cure for the Vidians, I would not have felt bad...
