Ms Yutani was portrayed by the same actress as “AVP 2 requiem” Françoise Yip who played Ms Yutani in that film. Early 20th/21 century CIA’s “OWLF” “Otherworld lifeform” had been tracking and collecting information on predator vists to earth and had been retrieving and collecting bits and pieces of predator technology including plasma weapons. Somewhere between 2005 and 2018 due to budget cuts OWLF had its mission given to the private sector called Stargazer. Well Stargazer had its mission terminated and everything was given back to OWLF with McKenna playing a bit part in the organization including his son (entire plot of the predator 2018). Well Stargazer/OWLF have cracked the predator language and they recovered a mostly intact predator spacecraft. In the end of the scene where the predator killer armour is unveiled Ms Cullen Yutani can be seen even though she doesn't have a speaking lines. Arguably the queen from aliens should have died or suffered badly when entering the (thin) atmosphere of lv426 as she was blown towards it when ejected from the Suloco's drop bay. She'd not have had time to do much about that. Her surviving the fall is reasonably achievable due to her pure durability and intact exoskeleton, her surviving the atmospheric entry is more challenging but not impossible. The queen in AvP however has a more questionable chance of survival under the artic ice, possible but even that is risky. Her exoskeleton was compromised (spear through head, multiple smaller cuts clean through her hide) in several places, meaning her soft tissue would be subject to the deep ocean pressures which could kill her. Oh as for why big chap was amongst the debris from the nostromo exploding (worth noting its not a nuclear blast, just the drive going critical and exploding, there would be debris, quite alot of it infact, especially from the refinery), that's fairly easy. Ripley in the Nascisus was flying directly away from the blast (and thus the debris fields origins), big chap was ejected and propelled in that direction by the engines. It would likely have passed through the debris field and likely latched onto something in it to stop itself.

Actually, the Alien Queen from LV 426 was jettisoned out of the USS Sulaco's bottom. The SAME area where the Drop ships were 'dropped' from. Now she was moving fairly fast, BUT unless the ship was already moving out of orbit the Moment the drop ship carrying Ripley, Newt, Hicks, Bishop and the Queen left orbit, chances are slim I feel that she would have missed the planet (even though you don't see the planet in the void as Ripley is trying to Jettison the Queen. The Sulaco's Ventral side was facing the planet when the Dropship launched, and assuming it had a standard Enterprise-style geo sync with her side to the planet, I think, in all likelihood, that when the Queen was jettisoned, The Gravity of LV-426 caught her and pulled her down planetside. 1. I agree it's ridiculous. 2. Yes... 3. As others have noted, the acid might require the presence of air to melt things. Also, scientific-minded fans have speculated that the aliens don't actually use acid for blood; their blood is non-acidic, and the acid just sits in sealed compartments under their skin. It's purely a defensive feature and serves no other purpose. The aliens might not have acid compartments in the part of the torso where Ripley shot Big Chap. 4. I agree the introduction of the "cocoon" was an annoying plot contrivance, as well as a poorly explained one. Until watching this video, I didn't realize that the mass of material Big Chap was found inside of was a cocoon. 5. Where does it say that the harpoon had a tracking beacon in it? That does sound ridiculous. However, I think the film could have gotten away with the conceit that the Company found Big Chap floating in space. At the very end of "Alien," Ripley does her monologue recapping the events of the past few days. We only hear the last few sentences of it, and in fact, it was probably a much longer statement that revealed she had ejected the alien into space. When she transmitted it back to Earth, the message probably also contained flight data from the Narcissus about its velocity and flight plan. The Company could have used that to reverse-extrapolate Big Chap's likely location in space. 6. [Shrugs] It would have been more believable if the Company had found Big Chap floating around in space dead. No cocoon, maybe little bits of debris around it but no big "Nostromo" sign. They removed its DNA in their lab and cultured it to create new aliens, which went amok and killed everyone as always. In "Alien Romulus," the protagonists would have fought with those aliens, making it unnecessary to have one of their crew get face-hugged, which led to another plot hole where the gestation period is now only 30 minutes or so and chestbursters can grow to the size of big men in a few hours so long as they go into a cocoon. Totally delete the cocoons from the movie.

The growth rate of the alien in this movie was practically violating the laws of physics. To grow from a 5 lbs chestburster to a 200 lbs alien warrior, it would need to consume 195 lbs of matter, and that's assuming its cells are 100% efficient, which is impossible. Even 50% is probably the efficiency limit for ANY life form governed by organic chemistry. So where did the chestburster get the 390 lbs of extra matter from? We never see it eat anything. If it is somehow turning air into body mass, there's still a major problem since a cubic meter of air only weighs 3 lbs, and is overwhelmingly made up of nitrogen and oxygen, which lack the chemical properties to serve as the principal components of flesh or organs. And these problems are even worse for the alien-human hybrid at the end.

It’s honestly lazy writing. There’s multiple ways that are less stupid. That doesn’t even go into other contradictions of older Alien movies that Romulus also creates. The Alien wasn’t in the Nostromo. The alien was thrown out the back of the shuttle craft by Ripley, and then took rocket exhaust to the face. And that’s not even going into how you saw the Nostromo get vaporized when it blew up in Alien. If they really figured out all those special Alien serums, then there’s really no reason for Aliens or any other movies after Alien to exist. They exist because they didn’t find any Xenomorph after Alien. And even if the Alien survived the grappling hook to the chest and rocket exhaust to the face, which is hotter than the flamethrower napalm which killed Xenomorphs and eggs in Aliens BTW, good luck finding an Alien body with no heat signature in open space far from any planet. It’s less stupid to say that the derelict vessel from Alien survived along with eggs when Hadley’s Hope exploded from the fusion cores going critical, due to the great distance between the crashed derelict and the colony buildings, or just going the Prometheus and Alien Covenant route where there are Aliens on other planets out there? It gets rediculous regardless of how you cut it.

In principle, the new additions to the xenomorph life cycle are interesting and decently thought out. However, I don't like the way the cocoon in the opening was found. What was it doing in the wreckage of the Nostromo? Why was the Nostromo wreckage even that recognizable in the first place? Why even go looking for the Big Chap at all when Wayland Yutani already knows that fresh specimens can be found on LV-426 without having to look in the vastness of space for one that might not even be retrievable? On the balance I liked the movie, but it was not well thought out, plotwise. I feel like Fede Alvarez put a lot of effort into the story concepts, cinematography, and effects (save for the terrible deep fake of Ian Holm), but didn't put any thought into where verisimilitude could be broken introducing these new story concepts.

@@aidanclarke6106 to be clear, I am not opposed to the idea that Big Chap was found out there. Had they written it cleverly enough, I could potentially see how, by sheer blind happenstance, that Big Chap could have been found, or hitched a ride after floating into a navigable space lane. Perhaps Wayland Yutani sent a team of investigators to find the Nostromo's remains? The disappointing part about what we saw is that they go on a mission for the express purpose of finding Big Chap, itself, without considering the simpler option. It also is disappointing that we get glimpses of Big Chap's remains, but we don't see the obvious story in between. I do like the idea of finding out wether it actually survived the vacuum of space after being shot through with a grappling hook, but the execution of it Romulus was a cheap plot to get fans to tune in. Yet more useless fan service and member berries that did nothing to serve the plot. It was almost as if Fede Alvarez and his writing staff were insecure in their ability to come up with a story O.G. fans would love. Given the acceleration she got from artifical gravity of Sulaco, she probably uncontrolably entered (presumably) still thick atmosphere of planetoid instead of became satelite in orbit and crashlanded with force enough to either shatter her to pieces or be evaporated by heat from the impact or by friction in fall. Sad end of royalty :-). I love Romulus but it still evade me when WY was able to track something they could not know still exist (in any form) in depths of interstellar space, how so they could not discover the planetoid itself with thousands of eggs there. To find wreckage of Nostromo in such big place as the cosmos is you had to know at very least the location from which she departed, without it not even blind luck should help.
