We are so blessed - how invaluable it is to be able to listen to Ron Carter and Lee Sklar just talking about music for an hour.

No people on god's earth should be allowed to be as nice and as talented as Mr Ron Carter,and Mr Leland Sklar are! When the good lord was giving out his gifts, both of these gentlemen were almost at the front of the line,no question about it! Absolutely brilliant,genuine Human beings. What a joy!

So, of course I've heard Leland Sklar play with James Taylor, Crosby and Nash, Jackson Browne, etc. In fact, that rhythm section defined the sound on many of the albums of at least the 70's. When I saw pictures of him for the first time, what with the ZZ-Top beard, I was expecting something different--maybe a unabomber who could really play. So, it was great to hear such thoughtfulness. In fact, it seems that Ron Carter may pick friends based on something like empathetic intelligence.

This interview is timeless. I am literally up at 3 am on a Sunday watching this. Not the least bit ironic that it would be on a day in which most would be given thanks and reverence to the one most high. Ron Carter has influenced me in such a short time, not only as a fan of his music but as a man that I strive to emulate

Hey Lee and Ron, it's a year since you made this video. Just found it. Always nice to see two of my favorite musicians chatting it up. I've seen Lee play numerous times over the decades. And Ron, we have chatted quite a bit on FB and I also live near you in Greenwich Village. My friends were playing at Birdland and you were upstairs. We had to leave so we couldn't get to meet. You were chatting with Michele and Matt. You know who I'm speaking of. We will catch up sometime soon. Love the music guys. Keep it happening.

my question or comment is based around having music stands and music. So true what Leland says how you look like a hired hand instead of part of the band with music in front of you. I think being a vegetarian and never taking drugs or alcohol adds to a wonderful memory. It seems like your mind can play games on you, if you feel like you won't remember something, you are almost guaranteed to forget your own name. Do you have a specific method of remembering ?
@RonCarterBassist Жыл бұрын
No specific method; if I play something enough times, I just know it in my bones.

Interesting that the speakers get irritated when people they meet want to talk to them about music. They demonstrate so clearly why people would want to talk to them about music!
