Very much so! My son is a 16 yr old jazz musician (drummer) and he said this is the best concert he's ever been to. Thank you!!

83 year old Herbie sounding like the VSOP era(not as much as Mile's era). Never saw that since. Beautiful, thanks for posting

great post from that evening- with these three wise anchors (Ron/ Jack/ Herbie) keeping it in the groove

Thank you for sharing this. Chris Potter has an imagination like no other. What an amazing grouping of musicians.

A well known saxophone player told me shortly after Without A Net came out that he hates Wayne Shorter: The man is 80 years old (that was Wayne's age then) and he plays better than anyone of us. This stuff is so hard to play, and he makes it sound so damn easy.

How do we delude ourselves that this sounds good?

Compared to what? ´When the old guys were 25? To a rehearsed set instead of a throw together homage concert? The sound quality that of the smartphone recording dismays ye? Sorry for that. I heard some nice licks. Did ye nae? When herbie is soloing the groove is very strong. Sure as fark felt good ter me. me auld head were boppin. Interaction between the ancient ones was "good" at the very least. Maybe listen again and compare it maybe to your spectacular life output. Or perhaps ye dinnae even listen to or like or play jazz and therefore it's all a bit over yer wee head? ? back to yer Robbie Williams greatest hits then, laddie. Why are ye even here ?

a very well educated public at this event. I hope to play for them at this level someday. and when Chris Potter is making the stink face at something you play, well, you're there aren't you? nice It was locked in, swing, groove from beat one and stayed there. Oh to have the pocket of that trio behind you, and those monsters out in front of you.

Form?
@MarkTarmannPianoCheck_it_out Жыл бұрын
yes that is the challenge with this music at this time at this level. For the ears to know where they are in the form if you don't know the song and haven't played it 1000 times yourself, and even then, sometimes......."where are we?? aaaaaa!"
