Ron tortured Fez and made him feel like he was worthless until Fez might magically have found it in him how to return to being "the old Fez" which just fed his crippling anxiety issues; letting through every caller that criticized Fez and having his stooges instruct screeners to never ever let anyone through who'd correct Ron on something. That born bully was angry and annoyed at Fez for becoming ill and eventually decided to passive-aggressive burn him out until he'd quit - he didn't fight for Fez with management or anywhere; they weren't firing him because of the HR issues that would come of firing a veteran employee who became struck with depression and anxiety and a slew of heart attacks, but still showed up everyday and to every meeting or event that was required of him. Ron would eventually just step on Fez, ignore him or make a huge deal out of "Hey look who's finally talking! let's see what you have for us" whenever the trembling self-loathing Fez would break his silence by deciding to try saying something again at the risk of 'always fucking up' as he called it himself. That'll drive someone with anxiety into a downward spiral and never allow him to break that vicious cycle of declining self-respect and fear.

@@JohnnyNatrium I agree with you. What do you think was the inflection point when the dynamic of the show changed? I’d say the addition of Dave and the heart attacks?

@@Firstnamewastaken Right? That was super cringe on Ron's part. That's how a 20 year old meathead reacts, not an out of shape 50 year old man. He's not actually gonna risk losing his millions of dollars a year gig to attack some intern, so it's literally just an empty/baseless tough guy act.

I liked Fez but they should've cut him loose YEARS before they did. For his own sake. I get that Ron was in a horrible position, trying to be loyal to a family friend but I wish he could've seen what a mistake it was. Same with Opie. These two had/have serious personality disorders and tolerating them only made them worse. For those two, Sirius was like a playground for them and their tyranny. Plus the torture to all those around them. Interpersonal lesson #1: appeasement only makes an aggressor more aggressive - always. and indulging mental illness only creates more mental illness - always.

It is funny to think that Fez Whatley, the perpetual victim, was being protected by corporate. Most likely because they knew he'd find a way to make it look homophobic or insensitive to people with his specific set of whatever. It's that same fear that made the suits keep Earl on board despite his numerous fuckups.

Fez brings up snapping Zito's neck... and then asks Zito if he thinks he can beat him up... Zito says no... and then Fez LITERALLY says the words "bring it on"... ...and then Ron gets pissed off at Zito for acting like he was going to get physical with Fez and for asking Fez to bring it on. I love these old R&F and O&A shows; I listen to them all the time. I don't like Zito at all (he's a smarmy douche), but Ron and Fez were both COMPLETELY in the wrong at that moment, in that situation.
@brianjames7397
@brianjames7397 3 жыл бұрын
All that said you'd have to be pretty stupid to think you're going to actually fight someone on a radio show. Fez was acting stupid but that Zito should have laughed it off. Zito was obviously a feminine guy who they teased for acting that way so he thought he had to act tough. Total bitch move by Zito.

@@brianjames7397 Fez treated Zito like shit for months (it could be funny sometimes, too) and Ron admitted, after the fact, that Zito was just reacting verbally to what Fez was saying. For all we know this whole thing was a bit, like Dave shoving Fez's face in pizza (which never actually happened).
