Keith I must thank you for giving Ron a platform to impart his knowledge to us all. The door is fast closing on Ron's generation and we need to gather as much knowledge from them as possible. How good would it be if you could gather other old timers that built and worked these machines to spread their knowledge to us hobbyist. I await the next installment with Ron.

Hello Keith , I briefly met you at Arn Fest last year . I'm really glad you hosted Ron to explain about the K&T Mill , I worked for a guy only 1 day a week as I am retired , a machinery dealer doing minor repairs on the used machines and could not figure out how to remove the front cover to replace the elevating shaft . I had to quit working for him because my wife is disabled and needs me at home now but I'm going to call him and tell him about Ron , You've got a great u tube channel & getting a hold of knowledgeable people like Ron Really adds to the value of your channel , thank you .

It's too bad, there are many, many old timers out there, myself included, that have a lifetime of experience, just going to waste! I applaud anyone who wants to get out there and share what took them a lifetime too learn. They certainly aren't teaching this line of work in our school's anymore! Thanks!

Have you thought about doing the same and teaching many, including me, what you have leant over the years. In Australia we have Men's Sheds and a lot of knowledge is passed on in that environment. A lot of chin wagging goes on as well. Plus a lot of otherwise lonely people get to interact with others. It makes a real difference to men's lives in particular. You are now contributing. Also where Men's Sheds have been set up, the rate of older male suicide has dropped markedly. PS. Many Men's Sheds are open to women being a full part of it.

Mr. Grundy, I look forward to your rebuilding of that K&T. The mention on how you take the front out as one piece sounds like an improvement over the ways I have seen others get into that part. Please film it at least in time lapse, showing more that telling. Keith, thanks for getting Ron Grundy in front of a camera. There is much to learn from his mind and hands.

Thank you Ron for the presentation on the K and T 1 H milling machine. I can tell you that machine will be in my mancave one of these days. Just a shame you are so far away from me Sir.as I would be willing to write a book on the K and T machines using your hands on experience. Experience is something that has to be earned by the school of hard knocks. I just hope you show some pictures of scrap flowering pattern that is on the column slide face. Look forward to see more great videos from you Ron and God bless you with health and long life too. Peace VF

I did factory rebuilds (with full warranties) for several years on industrial process equipment, I found Ron's advice (paraphrasing) to "not get carried away tearing in to things" a welcome bit of restraint, knowing when/how to evaluate as well as adhering to standards goes a long way toward success, most times cleaning, proper lubrication and minor adjustments go a long way toward proper operation.

Ron.. thanks for taking the time to do that.. It is interesting to hear from one of the fellows involved in the making of these machines.. I can't speak for any one else but I also love history. Maybe there is a way to pole folks here.. But I would like to hear stories about the plant, the folks, and the making of these beauties.. Hope you have a great birthday.. I am about 8 years behind you so I am still a spring chicken.. though I feel more like a stewing hen... Thanks Keith.. this was fun! Carry on!

“It comes apart in units” (modular before the word was invented)! Most large machines - including cars and light trucks- are built that way & knowing that can save you a lot of time & heartache in repairing a car. I’ve seen guys spend days working upside down under a dashboard when they could’ve pulled the whole dash out in an hour or two. The guys who work in the vehicle assembly plants often have side gigs going repairing cars they helped build because they know how to get the modules apart quickly.
