A remarkable man. There are no words to convey the joy I felt viewing this upload. As a youngster I loved nothing more than hearing Ron commentating on a Friday athletics meet. He was truly one of the greatest communicators of sporting drama my world has ever known.

The voice of his sport, like Dan Maskell or John Arlott, authoritative, knowledgeable and always on the athlete's side. Died relatively young, and a great loss. Great too on We are the Champions and Superstars. Thanks for the upload so we can remember a great person who deserves to live on in this way.

Here I would have been just eleven and moving from junior to senior school. Ron Pickering, the voice of my childhood and adolescence. My game is cricket and I wanted to see a cricketer on the show. He died ten years after this was filmed!

I remember Ron well even though he passed away years ago. He used to stay at my father's house sometimes when he came to Chester. A nice guy. I think I last spoke to.him at the Edinbugh commonwealth games on the side of the track.
