Libertarians only get elected when shit has gotten so bad, you cannot go wrong with the 'yolo' option. Worst case, you're where you are, as you're already at rock bottom. But no one wants to try libertarianism when the state is seemingly still functional. Too much of a risk to try these new alien concepts. Better to just sick with the lesser of 2 evil options I've grown up my entire life knowing.

To be fair, Ukraine was 'winning' a few months ago. They were making ground. But the Russians have managed to fall back on their defense in depth and have slowed any real advances. Now they've began another major assault, with great casualties mind you (~1000 per day) and are beginning to slowly advance again. Honestly, they need more support. There are weapon systems that we are depriving them of, for no benefit to ourselves. Bradlys slated for costly demo, is a major example. But there are other systems that would make the difference and turn the tide. We've really only given them enough to hold on, not enough to reliably advance. I get it. Their system was majorly corrupt. They are the offspring of a soviet system, and it shows. But the people that make up that nation, the men and women on the front lines, they aren't. They are fighting to save their nation. And even their government has begun major crackdowns. There must be a large amount of progress made with a system so rife with abuse. But they seem to be taking it quite seriously. Plenty of released videos of corrupt officials being arrested by military police. I hope to see that continue until the corruption is rooted out. But I don't want to see their nation fall due to some corrupt officials, either. On a more pragmatic note. We have paid literally 10s of trillions over decades to deter threats from Russia and China. With a minute fraction of that, we've supplied systems that have taken out the lion's share of their military might. That's just money spent better now (for this purpose) than ever before.

As a Venezuelan, no. Venezuela doesn't want to invade Guyana (which won't happen as much as Maduro tries to make it look like that) what Venezuela wants is the Essequibo which has historically belonged to Venezuela. The US backed us in 1899 (when the British were trying to invade us) and then in 1966 (when Venezuela restarted the claim after it was found that the ruling of 1899 was rigged) and the only reason the US doesn't support us is because of Maduro.
@fasddfadfgasdgs10 ай бұрын
that sounds like invading at this point. If it was such an important thing why did it take about 80 years to continue this claim? why not resolve it in 1966 unless something else was found out causing Venezuela to back down. Hell any person involved with that is long gone and their children can't be trusted to continue the claim either.
@LuccianoBartolini10 ай бұрын
@@content_enjoyer4458 XD 1.- Venezuela has an actual historical claim to the Essequibo (just look at historical maps before 1899), Russia has no claim to Ukraine. 2.- Venezuela has no military, so even if Maduro tried (and he would fail horribly) it is very unlikely he could try to reach anything beyond the Essequibo. No Venezuelan has any interest beyond that, including our military. 3.- Venezuela had multiple chances to invade Guyana, including during the Rupununi uprising in 1969 where the people uprising against Guyana were asking to be annexed to Venezuela. If we missed all those chances when we had a stronger military, what makes you think that Maduro will try now? Oil? Pfff. Venezuela has plenty that Maduro ignored. That is just an excuse to try to gain votes for the "elections" next year. Besides, Guyana broke the Ginebra accords of 1966 where it was established that NOTHING would be done in the territory under reclamation unless both sides agreed (that includes oil drilling) so it isn't as if Guyana was blameless in any way.
@stevenschnepp57610 ай бұрын
@@LuccianoBartolini The Russians claim they have historical claim to large chunks of Ukraine, too. They also don't have a military to speak of. They also waited until the end of the Pax Americana to start shit.
@LuccianoBartolini10 ай бұрын
@@content_enjoyer4458 You don't need any claims, yet Guyana is always spending years making military drills, saying that "they are ready against Venezuela" while blaming us for everything bad happening in their country while breaking the very treaty that recognized their independence. A lot of people talking about Venezuela while ignoring how Guyana has been at it for years but they still do nothing, because they know they would lose if they attack first and the same goes for Venezuela. Still, even with that British ship entering Guyana, I have extreme doubts. There are elections next year, our military is none existent, an invasion would kill Maduro's chances of surviving the elections (or not getting a coup) everything about Venezuela invading Guyana sounds like such a self defeating move that, if Maduro does it, it would be because he wants to commit suicide. As cautionary as it could be, I just don't see it happening.
@LuccianoBartolini9 ай бұрын
I'm open to be wrong, Maduro has proven to take the most self-defeating move in order to survive two more days, I just don't see how he could survive, or what he could gain, by going to war when even he knows that he has no military and that said military has zero interest in protecting him (like the bomb that exploded in August of 2018 and the military abandoned him).@@content_enjoyer4458
