I've played a lot of sports growing up and every sport has a feeling of pure bliss. A perfect three pointer in basketball, you can tell when it leaves your hand it's going in and it splashes with that divine swish sound. A perfect throw of a football, where the spiral is tight and the ball just effortlessly soars through the air right into your buddies hands.. etc. But in my opinion nothing matches up to a perfect iron shot from 150+ yards away. The way the club feels like it almost never even touched the ball. The clicking sound the club makes when you pinch the ball off of the fairway and the way the ball just climbs into the air like a fucking rocket. When it lands on the green and just sits right next to the hole. The feeling is incomparable to me. I fucking love that game.

@ethanmasson39634 жыл бұрын
Traveler16 wouldn’t say it’s confusing, it’s pretty straight forward. You don’t get a perfect lie and it’s often well over 200 yards which is further than most par 3s. Lot harder to make that then a 150 yard shot off a tee.
@dannyjames99864 жыл бұрын
yep, and I've never had either. 38 years old and been playing decent golf since I was a kid.
@scootdaws254 жыл бұрын
You have to hit two great shots in a row. Most par 5's are usually at least 450 yards or longer so you have to hit a fairly long tee shot and follow that up with a fairly long approach shot into the hole. With a hole-in-one you can get lucky on one shot. I've seen a guy hit a worm burner into the hole.

The problem with getting a perfect golf swing, for those of you who don't know, is that actually perfecting your swing is only a fraction of the process. For pro golfers, they can generally hit the ball exactly where they are aiming pretty consistently, barring injury of course. The real challenge of golf is in your judgement. How fast is the wind blowing, what will the ball do when it lands? What if the flag is too far way for your 7-iron but too close for your 6-iron. Do you try and give some extra strength to your 7-iron and risk making a bad shot, or do you swing your 6-iron at 3/4 strength? Are you confident enough in your non-full strength shots to even try something like that? Or do you just play safe and go with the 7-iron and deal with the resulting longer putt? That just a single shot. Every shot in golf is like that. You can play the same course for 20 years and likely never come across two identical shot situations.

The combination of that satisfying compressed golf ball feeling off the face and and good result because of it is the best overall feeling in the world. And the absurdity of the game and the part that fascinates me is that you can hit that flush shot, get that instant satisfaction all for it to be slightly ruined because club was positioned 1 degree differently and the ball has landed in trouble.

And the thing about golf is it’s margin of error fluctuates based on what you put into it and what the course gives you. The "feeling" is a beautiful wave of kinetic energy that you begin as soon as you pull the club away to begin your backswing. It is a storage of power throughout your whole body with the sole purpose of passing all of it through your feet to your hips to your core to your arms, wrists, hands down the shaft of the club till finally into the club face passing through the golf ball at the correct face angle at the sweet spot on the face. A bad shot or a fat shot in the dirt you can feel all of that energy shoot back up your body and a feeling of tension and stress into your muscles. But that perfect shot its like the ball isnt even there and that ball was apart of all the energy you stored to begin with. Its a beautiful feeling of power, prescision, and mind and body unity.

Of course it is. Ron basically said the same thing.
@keepitup57664 жыл бұрын
Ron misspoke when he said that a double eagle is "way less rare" instead of "way more rare", because it is so much more rare. it made the rest of his explanation confusing because he was saying how it's easier to get a hole in one on a par 3 because it could be like a 100 yard shot or less but told joe accidentally that it was way less rare. the double eagle would not only be better on the scorecard than a conventional hole in one on a par 3 (which is just an eagle), but the shot would likely have to be holed from well over 200 yards away. A double eagle can also be a hole in one on a par 4. The odds of holing a shot are better the closer you are to the hole, so naturally a double eagle is the harder of the two. On tour every week some guy will probably get a hole in one, but maybe once a year on average you might see a tour player get a double eagle.

You might argue that the first punch/kick/flying knee (take your pick) thrown in a fight that results in a knockout would be equivalent to a hole in one.

I get you’ve never been good at sports so I’ll give you a break. Catching a ball requires fine motor skills, especially when you’re doing it running full speed, the same goes with throwing a spiralled ball in the same situation. Not really - A 147 takes real talent plus its the combination of a couple dozen really precise shots & probably isn't achievable without a lot of practice (and a little luck)... One of the two holes in one I've ever seen was by a friend of mine who is probably one of the worst golfers I have ever met; & who by dumb luck thinned a 9-iron on a short 110 yard par 3 into the lip bunker which then somehow bounced into the hole. Pure, dumb luck all the way.
