Dude, even if Trek come out with a new model in July, yours is not obsolete. Couple of years ago a UK TT national champion won after deliberately building his bike on a£1000 budget, using an old aluminium Trek TTbike

Great video. My favorite ones are the trinity and the superslice now. Timemachine is a wellbuilt hybrid, but really expensive.

The SRAM shifter can be set horizontal instead of sticking up in the air as in your video.

I don’t understand how they can design these bikes without the ability to get a low stack. Have an old carbon TT bike and the simplest mod was to put one of those touring stems on that raise the bars - but upside down. Puts the bars just over the wheel. Combined with 650c wheels for a 5’ 2” rider, it cheats the wind more than a new bike. Bike fit done by Emma Pooleys first coach, so pretty happy
@ronykuba6 жыл бұрын
I agree, it is pretty weird. Luckily the smallest sizes usually have enough reach and seatpost extension to compensate.

what's your logic behind mechanical TT? do you still run mech on your tt bike today (2020)?

I don't

solution vor the narriwer basebar. bring it to a guy thatrepairs frames he can cut them shorter and put the handles back on you won‘t even see where it was and it will be painted even better than the original. Those carbon guys are magicians!!!

Ron, Why you choose Sram gruppo for all yours bikes ??
@ronykuba6 жыл бұрын
CX bike - what else than Force 1? TT bike - using a Shimano friction shifter instead of R2C? no thanks road bike - etap = lightest, cheapest, easiest to set up top groupset
@likemarksee6 жыл бұрын
Probably because he prefers it, i just removed my DA group-set from my TT bike and swapped it for SRAM Force. But i never use SRAM calliper brakes, because Shimano dual pivot are better. Sram rear derailleur and front yaw derailleur work better than Shimano in my opinion. Most of the time, i agree with his choice of equipment, based on best performance.

Hi Ron! Are you using K-Edge Garmin TT mount? Do you have Garmin 520? I went to K-Edge website, it says "* Garmin 520 is not compatible at this time" on this tt mount. I'm confused... k-edge.com/shop/computer-mounts/garmin-mounts/tt-mount-garmin/#reviews Is it the same mount?

yes and yes, it works perfectly

Buzz Riding600 it's the most up-to-date design. Although you can have a complete Trek for the price of the frameset.

Hey Ronald! Great channel! Quick questions: A) which chain do you prefer to road bike in dry conditions: ultegra or KMC 11L? B) after install a brand new chain, do you remove the out of box lube? Cheers
@ronykuba6 жыл бұрын
Valter Araujo I use Sram XX1 chains. You can't wax a chain without stripping the factory lube.
@likemarksee6 жыл бұрын
I just installed my SRAM R2C levers, but not at that angle. It’s best to set the levers horizontal surely?
@ronykuba6 жыл бұрын
Mark w best for what? Shifting is awkward when they aren't inline with the extensions
@likemarksee6 жыл бұрын
Ronald Kuba i thought R2C shifters were designed like that for aerodynamic reasons. In practise however i guess the aerodynamic drag is tiny. The shifting has a very nice feel and I’m impressed with mine so far. They seem comfortable in the horizontal position, thumb on top and first two and fingers under each lever. I intend to ride mine like that. Now i have just realised that wouldn’t work for you because you only have one lever . Your chainset will anyway save much more drag than that lost by the lever.
@ronykuba6 жыл бұрын
the position of the lever blade does not matter, because it is covered by your hand. That said, stretching your hand to reach a horizontal lever definitely is un-aero.
@likemarksee6 жыл бұрын
Good point i had not thought of that.

I would not hold your breath for a new speed concept. Dont get me wrong, everyone loves new bike announcements but the current speed concept is still just still so good.

we´ll see. If there was one, it would have probably already surfaced at some race.

Ronald Kuba I agree. I heard rumors they built a beam bike but they could not show that is would be any faster so they dropped the development. But that's just a rumor.

@stijndeklerk6 жыл бұрын
Nice build. The front hanger begs for a little custom fairing, you could also fabricate a strip to fill the gap of the rear wheel.
@ronykuba6 жыл бұрын
stijndeklerk a fairing makes it worse, as it adds frontal area. The bike has to be UCI legal, nothing can be added to the frame.
@franciss25296 жыл бұрын
Why don't you just focus on getting parts that fit rather than integrated parts? The comfort and positioning probably outweighs the aero gain. As long as it works for you, I guess.
@ronykuba6 жыл бұрын
1.) the fit is now perfect 2.) apart from the basebar, which is not very important in the grand scheme of things, this bike is more adjustable than a standard road bike 3.) scroll to a part where the frontal profile of this bike is (in)visible and think again...
