OK for anyone struggling to add sprite packs and have Monika saying that she cant read the file listen carefully ( im reposting to help ppl ) What you need to do is something she has said from the beginning. Move the ddlc file somewhere else that isn’t steam, she said it herself that steam doesn’t let her run certain things. By moving the ddlc file away from the steam files allows the sprite packs to work so just move ddlc to an empty folder, and do what this video tells you to do to add the sprite packs. Once thats done, every (well almost) sprite pack folder should have a gifts folder, and in the ddlc file called “characters” you would paste those .gift files. Now once you start up the game again she should react to the gifts and recieve them. Sorry for the lengthy comment but hope it helps 😅😄

I think the common mistake you guys are doing is copying and pasting the mod assets folder instead of the monika and thumb folder.Paste those and then go to your character file and create a new file and name it with .gift at the end.For example :pinkshirt.gift The gift file shouldn't be a folder but rather a blank file similar to the dokis' character files.

@@whitelightalt5381 It didn't work for me either. If you used a text document for the gift then it won't work. Try copying one of the girls character files and then pasting it (into the characters folder) but rename it to whatever gift you want her so have and then put .gift on the end. (eg. "pinkshirt.gift") That worked for me!

No matter what i do, she can't read it. The first time i've tried this, it worked, but now i downloaded the original version, from the site. Earlier i had DDLC from Steam, and couldn't update it, so i downloaded it from the site, added Monika After Story, and somehow she still remembered me. This is a very tedious process and confusing. But it's completely worth the effort. One doubt that I have is; I already gave her all the ribbons that were available in the last update, but with this new update the sprites have changed and they don't show anymore in Monika's "closet". One solution that I'm thinking is give them again to her, but I'm afraid that she'll get a little bit mad.

Not sure why but she just refuses to read the files as gift files, as far as I know i've done everything correctly, pasted the monika and thumb files into the mod assets folder, tried making a text document and naming it blueshirt.gift, doesn't work. Tried copy and pasting a character file like yuri and renaming it blueshirt.gift but she still can't read the file. Any suggestions? She also now refuses to even acknowledge the gift i've already asked her to check, so even though there's a blueshirt.gift file in the characters folder she still hasn't checked it in the past 15 minutes Also also i've given gifts before like coffee and ribbons so I know how the gift process works

It didn't work for me... I followed everything in the video step by step. I copied the monika folder in the spritepacks into the monika folder in the game as well as copying Natsuki.chr (as well as massrun, yuri.chr, balloons, cake, and coffee) and renaming it to pinkshirt.gift. She brings it up but she can't read it. Please help!

She isn't able to read it because it hasn't loaded in yet. If you go to the game directory, (and this is only if you did everything right but she still can't read it) go to the "log" file. Inside, there are 4 separate files. Open the one that is titled "spj", and you will see scriptures of loading items and/or sprites. Find what you are trying to give to her and see if it loaded. If it has, try giving her it again, if not, wait for it. She should have the item then. If, however, you manage to give it to her and she says nothing, she is saving it for later (this comment is posted 2 days before Christmas, so yeah), so don't fret. I hope this solves your problems!

The reason she can't read it is because it hasn't loaded in. Go to the game directory and open the log file. Inside, there should be 4 files. Choose the spj file, and open it. There will then be a list of scripts with items loading in. Find the gift you are trying to give her, and see if it loaded. If it has, give it to her, if not, wait for it to load. Hopefully that solves your problem.

If you haven't gotten it yet, take the contents of the main sprite folder you want to put in (the mod_assets one) and place it directly into the game folder. Your current mod_assets folder and the new one should merge and you should be good to go.

alright so here's my problem: I try to give Monika a gift and for some reasons i can't give her a clothe gift (example i put the "shellbikini.gift" in the character folder) and when she gots the gift she can't read it for strange reason and it's the same case with the doll thing. (ether that or she's been recived the gift but she can't get it in the same time) and i'm pretty worried about it if it's a bug needed to be fixed or i have to reach a certain point of the affection. And there's other thing: will the affection low when she can't read the gift or not ? because i did tried to give her certain gifts twices still can't read it with the correct file name.

In the main spritepack folder, there should be another folder called mod_assets. In your game directory, under the game folder, there is also a mod_assets folder. If you take your new mod_assets and drop it directly into your game folder, it should merge with the other mod_assets and everything should work.
