He didn't need this job hell he doesn't need any job. When something like this happens in your organisation and you are asked to do something corrupt and unethical, if it is within your power survival-wise to quit, you must do so. The dopey host (or whoever briefed him) totally misunderstands Farrow's line about Noah Oppenheim not being the villain of the story. That line is dripping with sarcasm and comes after several paragraphs detailing precisely how Oppenheim was directly responsible, however much he pretended it wasn't his call to stop the story.

Oppenheim literally begs Farrow to publicly say he's not the villain - despite all the evidence to the contrary - so Farrow writes a sarcastic paragraph about how "the system" was to blame, then adds "Noah Oppenheim was not the villain". It's very funny.

A question I have about the Me Too movement; If everyone behind the scenes knew the casting couch was open, how many women went onto the couch to buy their way into a part, with their eyes open knowing exactly what they were doing? If rumors are to be believed Marilyn Monroe orally smoothed her path to the top.
@noniemac5 жыл бұрын
sailorbychoice1 Regardless of knowledge of the casting couch is irrelevant. It’s the fact that they were threatened with sex to get that part. Harvey Weinstein, Matt Lauer, and many others used their position of power to manipulate these women. In other words what was said is give me sex or I will blacklist you from every studio in Hollywood or New York. To an up and coming actor, that was essentially death.

Way to completely miss the point. If a woman is told “this is the way it’s always been done and you won’t have a career if you don’t comply” and they choose their career over their dignity, that woman is still a victim and that man is still a sexual predator. Everyone wants to believe that unless a woman is physically held at knifepoint or gunpoint she is in control of her fate and that attitude just perpetuates the patriarchal system of oppression.

@@noniemac I was a child actor. On stage~ mostly, summer stock level theater, some TV, also played music, consistently working~ regionally. Big Fish in my tiny pond. In show business there are levels of famous. There came a point when several movies that turned out to be quite popular were being cast in my state capital just forty minutes from my house. I was at the point in my career when I needed to grow to the next level or do something else. I got invited to audition several times one year, and it was strongly implied that the casting director became quite friendly to those who liked to do _certain things,_ Being known to be heterosexual only increased the pressure because they liked _breaking in fresh meat._ I walked away from the business, but I know several who chose not to, some took the easy way, some did not~ but succeeded none the less.
