The guy who owns it obviously knows exactly what works and buys quality gear. I'd have loved Ronny to have asked him how much it all cost. The only way I could take seven months off work to drive around Australia would be to win the lottery. Really wished I'd have studied harder at school.;-)

Great work on the prado. I thought I had gone a bit overboard with mods but you leave me for dead. Only thing though have you weighed the prado, I have the Lovells 3500 kgs GVM upgrade no upgrade on fuel tank , no water tank, no rear bar with extra wheel and only my wife and I and with the 240 kgs for towball weight from our caravan and we are near the limit. Other than that great job.

A soon as I saw your 150 I siad , thats over GVM but at 15:10 you have the upgrade, good work. I had ST MAxx on my GU about 7 years ago, never again. I had the fronts replaced to splitting and saw toothing 6 times! At least Coopers covered it but it was too inconvenient and I ended up with mismatched tires for wear as the rears were fine. Also they had NO grip in the wet, at all. Bit like BFGs, not for on road at all. Currently running D697s on the 150, and at 50,000kms they are hard and brittle, will do for school runs but not staying. The Amarok has Falken ATw3, these are GOLD. Check them out, really bloody good tire! Currently have the same model as you, and a V6 Amarok (lifted and 31"), debating which one to deck out for trips, my heart says Amarok (power!) and my head says Prado (dependable!).

Great review and a really well setup Prado. Have had my 150 for almost 9 years and have been in every state in OZ in it at some stage, all be it briefly. If I add one locker, a water tank, long range tank, rear wheel carrier, GVM upgrade and a solar panel, i will be very close to this one. In 2 years when I can start to travel a lot more, a couple of these mods will be added along with a new clutch to my old school manual.

Great build. Cooper STmaxx is great in every terrain, last long. Yes, a bit noisier and bit less grip on wet road, but not by much, surprisingly well on bitumen. AT3 as good as stock on bitumen, but a lot softer structure than STmaxx.

Great video Ronny , he should buy a cheap good quality OBD reader , any sensor issues , you can delete the code and it will allow you to change to 4lo , just for back up , the code will come back eventually . Nice, cool truck...kindly tell me about the following: 1. I hear that Prado's suffer from " overturning " easily...How is this taken care of when you build a rig like this? 2. Having a off-road like this in Africa is so attractive to thieves and robbers...when parked, or visiting remote villages...How can one take care of this? 3. How much (approx.) does this kind of build cost? 4. Suppose someone wants to import an already modified truck like this from Australia to Kenya? ...Possible?

He mentions that 32.5 inch tires are the maximum legal size tires on a Prado while Ronny has 34.5s on his 70 series. . . How does Australia determine max tire size??? Here in Europe--like in the USA--there are no limits.
@ianparsons8495 жыл бұрын
We're allowed 50mm larger diameter than the largest size stated on the tyre placard. So a 265/65R17 is approx. 776mm which means you can fit a tyre up to 826mm overall diameter. The largest tyre that can legally be fitted to this vehicle is a 275/70R17 with an overall diameter around 817mm. Hope that helps :)
