I thought the Prologue does not have motion sequencing, or a sequencer for that matter. I would love to have the 8 or 16 voices but don't want to lose a valuable modulation source. I am thinking maybe an XD +XD in polychain 8 voice would be better than the prologue. My plan is a Minilogue and XD module for 4 voice stereo sound design.

Prologue is missing the motion sequencer, why would Korg do this, and why not just by two Mini's and get 8 voices WITH the motion sequencer?

Excellent exploration of the insanity that is possible in the oscillator section. I often see comments online where people say the Minilogue is sterile, which is a sure sign they haven’t explored the oscillator section.

Am I correct in assuming that there is no way to get cycling amp modulation on this synth - which is ridiculous. Cyclical amplitude is so important in synthesis. Why Korg left it out is beyond my comprehension. Or is that achieved in "shape". It appears you can get some tremolo on the square wave in OSC - it cuts out between peaks. Does that happen with the other OSC waveforms?
@jessicaevans1134
@jessicaevans1134 4 жыл бұрын
Hey, great video, but I noticed you missed a nice feature in with the sequencer, which is motion recording! When you play back a sequence, you can hit record and it while it's playing you can adjust most of the parameters (ie the cutoff filter) and it'll record the motion you've used while it was playing back. You can also record up to four different parameters this way, and you can look back to see a little graph of the motion you've recorded. It's how some of those initial tracks got the sound they did. Try it out for yourself!

Great review. Disappointed you did not show maximum envelope values, I still don't know how long the amp release is and the maximum amount of amp decay to zero sustain; two of three of the most important features that make or break a synth. An LFO without a sine wave is unthinkable, am I the only one who uses a sine LFO 90% of the time?

After watching your vid I’ve decided the minilogue will be the best entry point to play and learn synthesis. I need an instrument I can use immediately on stage with a few tweaked presets. You explanations are clear, understandable and make sense to me. So many vids go on with heaps of jargon which I don’t understand. This is not helpful. I will be playing changing between bass and synth for colour and soloing. using pedal effects for both. Reverb, phaser, flanger …….. This appears a great bit of gear but will take work to get the most out of it. Thank you for your time and effort. 🙏.

Hi there I'm a bit new to synthesizers and I am trying to learn quickly but I was hoping you could help me is there a way I can turn off motion sequencing or motion capture on the minilogue so I can create patches in a traditional analogue sense without movements being recorded. I do like motion capture and use it all the time it's just 4 patch creation I would like to be able to turn it off full stop any help would be thoroughly appreciated racking my brains trying to figure out how to do this I know you can all the monologue so surely it's capable on the minilogue any and thought you may have would be fantastic. Thanks for the awesome instructional videos as usual subscribed ages ago hope you having a great day

Ron Cavagnaro funnily enough I just figured it out thank you very much for answering I really appreciate it. Press edit and the last three flashing sequencer buttons give you access to turning on and off the motion capture rails. All I have to do now is figure out how to play a synth into another one so when I play a key of this a key on another synth will sound. I know it's possible I've seen it on KZbin (no MIDI box used) with the minilogue but I can't find the video you wouldn't know would you mate

While the tutorial itself is much appreciated, the entire frame during the duration of the video is completely out of focus, just like your Bass Station video. Nit-picking perhaps, but every knob and switch you touched upon is kinda blurry and made it difficult to follow. All you had to do was focus your frame (it takes 3 seconds) before filming and that would've made the difference. Your System-1 video was a bit more focused but it's clear you're concentrating more on your tutorials rather than keeping the frame in focus which is just as important to anyone following your videos.
