An absolute legend. Few, if any, better blues guitarists IMHO.

Watch the 1989 Austin City Limits version of this song. String breaks and he doesn’t miss a beat while switching guitars! Incredible!

The coordination between his stage 'group' is on full display... and it should be pretty obvious that "practice practice practice" was his guitar-tech's motto too - this broken string event was well-praciced. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqq6ko2MmM2XbM0

We call his voice, "honey over gravel". Now, watch him do this same song on Austin City Limits in Oct 1989, you will see why. From the same ACL show check out "Leave my Girl Alone" for some stinging blues.

The GOAT had the pleasure to experience him live in concert the best guitarist i have ever seen and i turn 70 in may. Check out a blues artist Stevie played with Jeff Healy he is blind guitarist and could tear it up, he sadly has passed also check him out will not be sorry🤘

When SRV brings it like this, it's....Sex on a Stick. His performance of his "Ain't Gonna Give Up on Live" @ the Capital Theatre is the flip side of Texas blues....his vocals, solo, & writing is peak.
@Sometimes-even-lyrical4 күн бұрын
Oh, yeahhh. When he leans into the mike and makes those sounds... mmmmm. Eargasm! And the vocals on "Ain't Gone 'n' Give Up On Love" are as full of passion as Stevie's playing! Every moment is golden with SRV's voice, hands, body, soul, and heart 💛♥️💛!

I remember recommending SRV so long ago on a TheDooo reaction, and you said it got blocked when I asked later on about it. I was crushed. I was hoping you would post it to Patreon. I knew you would fall in love with him. He is my music hero. There will never be another. I am glad I got to see you react to something of his, even if it wasn't your first reaction. Thank you.

There’s no better a Texas Blues player than SRV (RIP), an absolute legend! Fun fact, he played with 13-56 strings which used to wreck the necks of his guitars! He also played with his amp set on the verge of meltdown, that’s how he got the tone he wanted! The Sky is crying is a great follow up! He’s perfik, totally the amazingly bestest Blooz player! Edit: he uses a pretty clean tone, no real distortion, it’s mostly amp driven not preamp. So it’s about 3 on gain and 10 on amp, but unless you’ve got a lower power setting it’s gonna blow your windows out 😂

This is definitely blues, but there is something about this performance that reminds me of old-style (think 50s or early 60s) rock 'n' roll. I hear this and I can picture Little Richard or Jerry Lee Lewis pounding the piano and singing the same thing. Your reaction was terrific as usual.

Yup, you was enjoying that. For a different side of SRV check out "Riveira Paradise" performed on Austin City Limits. One of my favorites of his.

Great Reaction Roni!!! I was fortunate enough to get to see SRV live back in May 1988 when he opened for Robert Plant at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, it was a great night!! He died around two years later... Another sad day in Music History!!!

First time I've ever noticed he has a left-handed tremolo on that guitar. (looked it up just now) Apparently, he installed that himself. He has sort of a Ray Charles sound that I feel is done tightening up the throat.

👏🙌Great reaction! Was your blocked Texas Flood from the El Macombo? That usually gets blocked but here are some venues that don’t block. Where this one was from Capitol Theatre Austin City Limits 1989 Tokyo 1985 Most of his live tour performances aren’t blocked The El Macombo venue is highly requested but very tricky Keep going ! May I suggest Riveria Paradise, a Stevie original, showcasing a different sound and style. My most favorite song 🎸🎶💯

I just subbed you on this reaction. SRV The best blues guitarist ever maybe guitarist period. Thanks for the reaction. The 70s and 80s are full of awesome music. Have you ever listened to Southern Rock? If not you might try some Lynyrd Skynyrd or Allman Brothers to start with. Again thanks for keeping SRV going. 😊

SRV's version of Jimmy Hendrix's Voodoo Child is epic.. A couple of blues guys you need to listen to is of course Dr Slow Hands Eric Clapton, Robert Kray, Derek Trucks, Muddy Waters, BB King and Robert Johnson.. That covers the last 100 years anyway...

I liked your little musical outro there, sorry it made you late. What!!? You hated it?? C'mon, Roni, you don't lie that well. 😁 "Look at Little Sister" by SRV is one of his best, and I've always enjoyed it. Never saw a live version, though. Others have successfully uploaded reactions and analyses to "Texas Flood" at Austin Limits. Is that the one that got blocked? You might check with The Charismatic Voice to see if they had any trouble and/or what they did to get Elizabeth's R&A posted (she was flabbergasted, if you haven't seen it).

Two reaction requests: house on sand (nothing more) and god was never on your side (motorhead). Three others I'm thinking of: the day of the hunter (die unnamed), afterlife (avenged sevenfold), and cry of the banshee (brocas helm)

One of the best tributes to SRV is Tommy Katone and Voodoo Blue. Tommy is SRV reincarnate, voice/style/musicianship. You'll thank me later.

Roni I guess this just goes to show either how random or screwed up the YT algorithm is. I've been watching reaction videos for at least three years now and this is the first time you've shown up! I don't get why you'd have copyright issue with SRV because countless others have been able to post them including Texas Flood (from Austin City Limits esp). If you want some more blue-eyed blues guitar check out Johnny Winter, especially anything from his first album on Capital Records. Just drop the needle anywhere, they're all great.

Great song --- the Stevie Ray Vaughan Look At Little Sister El Macumbo version is more interesting. Stevie Ray pops a string, continues to play until the best time to swap out guitars, nods to his tech and pulls off the smoothest guitar swap ever ... not missing anything, coming back in on perfect time. I've watched it maybe 100 times now and know if I tried the same thing 100 times I wouldn't pull it off a single time. --- kzbin.info/www/bejne/aajSgYmHet13qbM
@Sometimes-even-lyrical4 күн бұрын
Are you sure that's the El Mocambo performance? The string breaks at the Austin '89 show, and the swap of guitars is as smooth as butter. Doesn't faze Stevie in the least.
