My Grandpa used to sing “Mockingbird”to me while he two-stepped around his garden. He was a barn dance fiddler when he was a young man. My Grandma made him quit fiddling. I’ll never forget my Grandpa in his overalls and flannel shirt and his gentle ways. This lively rendition makes me smile.

This is from 1985 at Cajun's Wharf in Little Rock, Arkansas. Stan Szelest is on piano, Dave Lewis on drums, Bill Dillon on lead guitar, Steve Hogg on bass. Amy Sky is the female vocalist and on the far right is Ronnie Hawkins, Jr. who was just starting out and was a little unsure of himself and was tucked away on rhythm guitar. The cousin Dale he refers to is Dale Hawkins of "Susie Q" fame who had a studio and lived in North Little Rock. How do I know this. I was there for the whole week. 6 fantastic nights!
