1:37 But he IS the best breakbuilder for sure...
@CityStarrzz5 жыл бұрын
No, he's right. He isn't the kind of break builder he considers as "The Best". Not that he's never had moments where he can do it, but when Hendry was on form, he DOMINATED. He would be left a long pot, pot it, land on the black, and then proceeds to aggressively smash up the pack, and creates a break in which nothing ever really look out of place. Ronnie, as I said, has managed this in spates. Ronnie doesn't seem to understand his own talent very well though. Ronnie is like Hendrix... He plays as much on feel as knowledge. Obviously he's learned things, but he's not a cookie cutter, by the numbers break builder. Instead, he quite calmly plays on what's available, by aiming for sectors of the table. Ronnie run's out of position often, so he altered his game to stop playing on individual reds. He instead plays on groups, and finds those positions better than anyone else in the game. He doesn't need the pinpoint accuracy at all times, because it takes a lot of that pressure off. Unfortunately, he seems to see this as a weakness... when it's his biggest strength. Ronnie is also best when he's in charge... You can't beat a confident Ronnie without throwing him off kilter. It's just not possible to dominate him if he's on form. This was as true of Hendry as it is Selby. The man will not give himself the positive reinforcement required, but just like some people have anxiety and depression, and others can't relate... he can't relate to being able to be so confident he tells his missus to pack his dinner jacket like Hendry would have done. He's never felt good enough, yet everyone in the game tells him he's the most naturally gifted player of all time. Which is a massive kick in the teeth when he's sat and studied other peoples games, his own, found flaws, made changes to fix them, wins, and is then told "oh well you're the most naturally gifted player ever, so it's kind of expected now mate... Which just takes all the glory out of it. Obviously this is just how I see it, and it's filled with armchair psychology... But ask yourself how you'd feel if you put your heart and soul into something, had a very fraglie level of confidence, and were then told none of it was done by hard work, and you're just a weirdo with a natural talent. You'd be pretty shitty about it too.
@sugs11915 жыл бұрын
He is not the best breakbuilder he is a close second. He is perhaps the best safety player.

CityStarrzz Come again
@broyout35865 жыл бұрын
@@CityStarrzz Thanx, lots of truth in there. Never looked at it like that. Probably a reason people take to him in spades. A bit like Alex Higgens and Jimmy White, there is a fragility in them you just can't help but want to embrace. But support in the form of lauding him to give him confidence doesn't actually help him. The feeling he's only reached part of his full potential, yet breaking almost every record out there. A truly amazing sportsman.
@Klappi15 жыл бұрын
@@CityStarrzz Very good points there. Of course Ronnie himself wouldn't admit to being the best at anything 😀 But on break building the stats are on Ronnie's favour. At this moment, him and Hendry both have 1270 matches played on cuetracker so the comparisons are there. Of course 'peak' break building is harder to judge. Although Ronnie says he'd rather have Hendry's career, I'm glad he's had longevity. His success despite all the bad spells(and farm work) in between is incredible. I wasn't there to witness Hendry's dominance so I am naturally biased 😊

This guy sent Stephen Hendry into retirement. Ronnie is much better than Hendry because Hendry, Davis etc had lower class players to match against. Let's face it the likes of Dennis Taylor, Terry Griffiths, John Parrott would never have stood with half of today's players? The standard is very high today compared to then. As much as Ronnie is moody and unpredictable, he is the greatest player to have lived. Players to watch out for in the future are, Thepchaiya Un Nooh. Xiao Goudong. Mark Allen. Neil Robinson. Judd Trump.

Ronnie's interpretation of his life are so far off the mark, it's unbelievable. Like he said I can't go out thinking that I'm going to win in advance, and take my dinner jacket... What he did was pot a red, and ask what you get for a 147 break... that's thinking in advance that you can't miss! So I think there's something wrong with his brain, but that maladjustment helps him to win snooker.
