12:16 cue ball did never leave the table, so it should not have been a "ball in hand".

But I like Tatiana’s decision to give Ricky ball in hand anyway. Because Ronnie knows about that rule and kept the white on the table anyway. It really is a silly rule that should be changed

Snooker is sometimes a strange game. For reasons, no one can understand the run of the ball just go's against you no matter who you are. Plus I have always believed that best of 5 or 7 and even 9 is harder than a playoff game. Congrats to Ronnie for hanging in there for the win.

The greatest players are also the greatest improvisers. Personally, I am more impressed and entertained by a player like Ronnie working a win out of a run of trouble, than I am by an ideally played 147.

The referee incorrectly picked up the ball in frame one when Ronnie touched it! What now? The ball didn’t leave the bed of the table. Ball in hand was given incorrectly.

@@b3rliner624 Had he not interfered with the table, it would have fell in. I guess by your logic, these champions should just slap balls around on the table and take the foul instead of giving ball in hand? Lmao. Ronnie was being a little childish and let Ricky take ball in hand.
@b3rliner6242 жыл бұрын
@@sethh8892 well I bet you’re wrong. There was a similar instance a few years ago and I think it was Jan Verhaas back then that ruled a foul for the opponent that had picked up the ball that (I think it was Ronnie) blocked from falling in the pocket by putting his fist in. The opponent picked it up and put it in the D and that was a foul because ‚the ball never left the bed of the table‘ So the referee did wrong by picking up the ball and letting the opponent play from the D here. There needs to be a rule put in place and the player that causes such a situation should lose the frame. There is a video on KZbin btw
@sethh88922 жыл бұрын
@@b3rliner624 Exactly. There isnt a rule directly stating this. Its just like a similar scenario: This guy slammed a ball, it jumped off the table, hit him in the chest and fell in the pocket. The ball made it in the pocket and he didnt intentionally hit the ball in, so how do you reff that? If the rule book had EVERY possible scenario it would be too big.

If you turn the sound to nothing and just watch then the meditative aspect of the game heightens your senses. The incessant jaber by the eager beavers trying to be the in snooker announcer is gone leaving the shots and players calculating the only important thing to see.

What the hell. Cannot this commenter count ? 1. John Higgins broke off 2. Miss 3. Miss and warning 4. Miss and end of frame That is four shots. And "Come on Roony" could set an actual unbeatable record with a total of zero shots taken by conceding the frame without him taking his break-off shot. "OH well, Our little dear is temperamental today."
@physicsguybrian2 жыл бұрын
The promo for "pool" is pretty lame lol. Drama, drama, it's all about drama on all shows, everywhere these days! As far as the balls goes, the black spotted cue ball is no different than the red spotted so.....why? Oh yeah, patents....and the 9 ball just looks silly. Of course, *some* will think "ohhhh it's so different now".

Was wondering the same thing. The cue ball never left the table until the ref picked it up.
@MrCanuck1472 жыл бұрын
Ronnie pushed it with his cue, it was going straight in the pocket. He conceded a scratch.
@thitiwatroongruangmanirat86082 жыл бұрын
@@MrCanuck147 Technically the cue ball never left the table and the ref shouldn’t have picked it up. Although it was clearly going straight to the pocket, it never actually did because Ronnie pushed it with his cue first. Check out the match between Selby and Dott in 2009 where a similar incident happened. See what the ref did kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2LWdZyCltWlZsk

@@seanharrison5915 It’s a controversial situation indeed, but I think the rules have been well established. If they are applied based on what actually happens on the table not what is expected to happen, there would be no more doubt.

Sounds like American professional sports where even a mediocre team can make the playoffs. Of course it's about added revenue from television and advertising that prompts this action. We went through this kind of thing in the 90's when even the worst players in a league got the same trophy as the hard working winners. Raised a bunch of kids to believe failure didn't matter at all so why work for a goal. That's not saying that Ron is a failure but, even the best aren't the best all the time.

Ronnie is a genius! Yes, Hendry is the best player in history on paper with 7 world championships but nobody in the history of snooker has been able to keep playing at this high level for 30 years straight like Ronnie..including a 5 year lay-off that is and then coming back and winning his 6th world title, he is unique! And you cannot do that unless you are a genius. But like all geniuses he is a little bit off, maybe more than a little bit.
