I like the chords of those minor harps. It’s good for reggae stuff. Didn’t know MB were offered in minor tuning. I’ve used LO so far. It’s good to have options.

I own two custom Crossovers; A-minor and C-Minor. The purchase of these was as a result of sitting in on a seminar by Tim Gonzalez at SPAH 2016 (where I met you). He is the master of the minor keys and if you listen to Latin; Tex Mex etc. you will hear the beautiful clavé beats which work so well with these harps! Works well with Carlos Santana songs. Cheers.

I meant to say 1 of the major advantages of the natural minor is the turning on the chords. There are other advantages as well but I find that this is the most important one.

I have two natty minor harps which I bought on a whim: an MB in Cm and a Lee Oskar in Bm. To me, they have an old-world sound that takes me back to the lands of my ancestors. I learned how to play the first part of "Song of the Volga Boatmen" and the chorus of "Kalinka" on them. On a separate note, have you seen Hohner's announcement for the new Harp Blaster HB52 bullet mic yet?

ordered an harmonic minor marine band in january and got it 2 days ago. LOVE IT. so sad there is so very little content on it.

Those are not G natural minor and A natural minor harmonicas, although that is how Hohner marks them. They are G Dorian and A Dorian Harmonicas, each with a raised 6 instead of flat 6.

These are awesome for playing reggae tunes where you can comp and play the melody at the same time. You can totally beatbox! Easiest one on the harp is: Boots Draw chord Cats Draw chord Boots Draw chord Cats (let blow chord bleed in) Etc…

Use these quite a lot. In fact the layout for second position is actually more logical than Richter. The high octave just falls into place. Gives you a different voicing from the equivalent 3rd position on a Richter and you can use the whole harmonica, if that makes sense. I think it is a shame that there don't seem to be any Nm MB Deluxes or Crossovers. Maybe Hohner should commit to them more. Seydel do them (labelled in second position) and they are nice but not as loud to me as a Marine Band.

Love these....I have a A minor...love the way you play it...I been considering g minor or d minor also...would you recommend g minor before a d minor or vise versa? I am wanting them for harmonica beat boxing and also some minor tunes Cajun/zydeco music

I got a Hohner Marine Band A Minor but I am cunfused, what key the songs I play to should be. If I play in major, an A harmonica matches with songs in E. Should I take an A minor harmonica for E minor songs in second position? I played that Hohner A minor harmonica along with an A minor song and it sounded good. After that I played that harmonica along with an E minor song and that sounded terrible.

I think you have to look at how the harp is labeled, my lee oskar natural minor is labeled as D minor, but the label states the 2nd position, so the blow note on the first hole is a G.

Hello! I'm planning on learning a harmonica for the first time. I can play a little bit of guitar and I like the minor sound in general. Would you recommend to start with a minor diatonic first?

they are certainly an option and I am not opposed to playing the minor tuned harmonicas but I would highly recommend simply learning the 3rd position blues scale on a major tuned harp. this way you can play a minor scale with all of your major tuned harmonicas. the phrasing lays out differently which is also a big advantage.

sure, 2nd position for those minor blues tunes or otherwise will work well. experiment until you find what suits you.

Both minor haps have minor thirds instead of major thirds but the difference is that natural minor has major sixths and minor sevenths, whereas the harmonic minor has minor sixths and major sevenths.
