Talon has been out a lot more lately. I think Ron is trying to scale back like his dad did. It's getting harder on his body as he gets older, like it would any of us.

Plasmastorm73, Talon will still be working primarily in the shop but jumps in a truck when needed. As for "scaling back" I would love to in the future. For now, I am out there running those trucks. LOL Thanks for watching and God bless.

Nate85-605, yes it takes a certain level of maturity to ask for help and understand your current limits. Ethan really hasn't had much opportunity to run the trucks in this type of weather. It can be one of the biggest challenges. Navigating ice under wet snow makes the seasoned operators edgy. Thanks for watching and God bless.

Well. @Ron and @Eithan. As a father of a very excitable son, i would love to congratulate you both on the unbelievable calm in your interchange there. There's no way i would have been that calm with either my father or son under those conditions. I also love your courage in posting the whole exchange. @Eithen props to you, you have had a tough start into the business, but you are doing fantastically. I would be a very proud father watching you drive that truck out of that slide.

@@excavatoree I agree especially with Towing you have to be careful and calm about what you say and do. If you don’t have the patience to do Towing then you don’t need to be doing it. You have to use your head and think about what you’re doing and make the right decision because if you don’t you will be in trouble.

I was taught by a Canadian snow plow driver and logger, you never ever cost down a grade in neutral because it’s slick. I was also taught you never ever park on an icy hill you just spun out on, without digging a set of rat holes. Because if you tires didn’t have the traction for you to climb, they don’t have the traction to keep you parked there. But the holes act as chock blocks
@codyogden4611
@codyogden4611 11 күн бұрын
I hope none of this sounds mean, I just want to give you guys friendly advice. But also being a Canadian who regularly gets snow like that, if you or Ethan is ever in a ditch rear first like that again. Stick your shoe in the throttle, get those chains spinning so they cut and tear into the ice and the truck stands a better chance of climbing out. Riding the brake makes the tires stop then the side hill skids you down into the bushes

I would think side mount winches would be best because they can be used with spiking type tasks and when something like this happens. A winch in the front should never be necessary for rigs like this. If they are needed then something went wrong.

Because if you venture out, you risk something like this, which then endangers the local equivalents of Ron and co. Our prayers are with all responders during these bad winter storms. We received almost 3 inches of ice and then snow up here next to St Louis. Be safe!

It's great to see the V70 Valcan again. Just like Unit18 , it is an awesome truck. The recoveries that needed to be done to get to the main recovery keeps the job interesting and challenging.

Good job fellers! Y'all please be VERY careful out there! We live in West Central Indiana. This past Tuesday my wife was going to her car to go to work and she slipped on the ice and went down. She actually hit hard enough that she fractured her left femur. She's still in an Indianapolis hospital recovering from surgery to repair the damage. I'm praying for the safety of all y'all!!!!! 🙏🏻

For anyone wondering what is Cinder’s Cinders are small, porous volcanic rocks that are used to help with traction and melt snow and ice on roads. They are also known as scoria.

Way long ago, when we had coal fired power plants here, and the railroads had steam engines, cinders were common. Now, good luck. We use sand and salt mix

God, I work with my dad and this reassures me that our relationship at work is totally normal. Sometimes as a son, we know what to do but just aren't sure it's the way our dad would do it. We just need assurance or at least for dad to be on the phone to experience it in real-time. Love it.

Love the snow videos Ron! If this is the storm I'm thinking of, (Blair) where I am in Maryland, got about 5 inches from this storm. We're expected to get 2-4 inches (maybe more) this Sunday evening! I'm a snow lover! Stay safe!
