Awards by American (and British) magazines are often bought by a manufacturer, not earned.

Also because they usually keep focus on negative topics when reviewing them while putting the focus on positive stuff when reviewing German brands. You don’t bite the hand that feeds you. That’s why more and more brands have zero to marginal sales in the upper segments. Most people believe the German brands do offer the best cars while other options may be nice but probably risky. And this concept does affect resell value. So, if we want something else we really have to be able to spend more.
