Got a call from a homeowner to look at a roof leak and figure for a roof replacement. This is a quick inspection of what I found. If you like the content give it a thumbs up and consider subscribing to the Grand Roofing channel and hitting the bill notification so you don't miss the next video. Thanks!

I'd like to know what the pitch is when you're on roofs like the one you're in this video. Can't believe you'll walk that. I'd poop my pants.

I hate getting on anything over 5 pitch! Getting off the roof onto the ladder is the worst part, we use telescoping ladders and they always slide! I always have a change of pants with me!

Your vids are hands down, the absolute best on KZbin. I admire your professionalism. Very smart and knowledgable. I wish you lived near me for my next roof. I'd rather buy a used car or a mattress than to decide on who a good roofer is.

It’s not the same as test driving a car… cuz if u do a free repair like u always do a lot of clients just take advantage and end up not even doing the job …. Just a tip not hating just saying cuz I can’t stand ppl like that that take advantage…

Saying that ladder supports/standoffs are only for windows is like saying that paintbrushes are supposed to be used for white paint and any other use is just posturing. "Experts" seem to be very bizarre people.

I use my ladder standoff to keep the ladder from bending and chewing up the edge of the gutters. It also makes the ladder far more stable. Definitely not for windows only.

Would you do a re-roof in Dallas, TX?. I am so demoralised with the over 1/2 dozen Angie’s-List roofers I’ve interviewed since January. NONE of them seem interested because of my due-diligence.

Your Cougar Paw check was hilarious. Yes it's time to replace pads for sure. Just bought some Cougar Pads myself as a homeowner trying to exclude bats from second story eaves and they are a game changer for sure not to mention my dogs foam bed does a great job for traction. Stay safe, all the best.

Nah sorry Brian, the customer has been putting the wrong rain on the roof. This roof was designed only for water capable of 1inch jumps across gaps. If you use normal water instead of jumping water it's gunna leak.

What’s up bro, love your videos 🤙🏼 couldn’t the flashing have been avoided if they just installed the shingle all the way up instead of cutting it to where it met the fascia, I’ve seen leaks with flashing which is what I try to avoid for the install, water runs to fast from The Valley which will get into the step flashing and under the shingle even if mastic is used

Haters mean you're doing something right. Keep doing what you do. Question...... Do you get deposits from customers prior to doing the roof? We don't and it's a big selling point. Obviously there's shady characters where I make exceptions to the rules and ask for one but just curious to what you do and if so how much do you ask for down?

When I got started 5 years ago I needed to because I could not get a business loan being a new business. It was extremely hard to get the material to do the job. I had to inject Capital into the company to get started. After a short while I was able to get a credit card in the company name which was a big help. With that said I had to sometimes pay the credit card off 2 to 3 times a week. We have since been able to get credit lines set up at suppliers. We don't always require money up front. The market as a whole I feel has a bad taste of making a payment down to get the job started. I don't necessarily see that as being a selling point but it does offer a lot of trust to the consumer. Sometimes if I get a bad feeling about a potential customer I try to get a deposit while setting the material off. At least that way the money they deposited they see physical material on their property. I feel like too many contractors in this line of work rely on their lines of credit and they don't truly know what their margins are. I see a lot of contractors have a lot of cash flow but don't have the margins to pay off their line of credit at the supplier. They rack up large sums of debt. I take a little extra time during every estimate to know that if we get the job we will be with a decent margin to cover all expenses. We then pay the debts off at the suppliers every week to avoid being charged interest.

I work as a sales rep for a company but in situations like where that facia board is running into the shingles and if we’re talking a replacement then we would remove that board and soffit if necessary to be able to nail the shingles up there properly

For those of us who work on tile and metal roofs where the ladder standoffs don't work. Ladders little helper is fantastic for stabilizing the ladder and stopped scratches on the guttering. Just a piece of rubber/plastic that hooks over the gutter. For 2 story and above I use ladder clamps. 1 on each side locks the ladder in place so hard you would have to pull the entire line of guttering down to move it.

If there is one trade that I have a great deal of respect and appreciation for it's roofers. Not only is it very hard work, but the steep roofs that ya'll work / walk on freak me out, our roof is just a 6/12 ( two story access only with lots of hips), , but I hate even getting up on it (which I will be doing here in a few minutes to do some work), I wouldn't even begin to get on a 12/12 or steeper- especially holding and talking into a camera with bad shoes, slippery granules, and no harness / rope- Hats off to you man!
