One trick I learned years ago from Larry Haun was to deck the eaves that are exposed to below with car decking, then start with the ply. Makes for a much nicer visual from the ground seeing that car decking on the soffets.

I think that your videos are great. You are demonstrating that "where there's a wheel, there's a way" Renovating a home, or living in partially built homes is inherently stressful, that's something that a lotta folks don't realise, so don't worry 'bout what your work clothes look like, you folks have enough on your plate to keep you busy, without worrying 'bout your appearances. I've never even thought about it , most folks are prolly looking at your videos to get a few clues about how to build their own off grid homes. I think most folks have a set of "work clothes" that they wear when they think there's the possibility of them getting stained with paint etc.

I was never good at dealing either with heights or safety threats and working on roofs has both. Now too stiff and old to think about roofing, I was glad to see a safety harness being used. I could see all the possible ways it could go south. Imagining the threat of starting to slide before the inevitable drop to come. Please always take care before you have an unwanted event. Happily, the build is coming on apace now, though it is a shame about the delayed metalwork.

Great job as usual! Are you going to store your vehicles in the garage during winter months and when you buy your garage doors please do not get cheap doors because this will hurt your finances in the long run! Get insulated ones too. Reinforce garage ceiling for garage door opener and extra lighting! Put 220 electric plug for future projects and walls for to hang tool from!

Sweet! Next video windows or stairs? Poor Julie. I never even considered y'all being dirty. LOL But, I can see your concern. It won't always be like this, sweetie. Soon winter will be upon us and you'll have to get clever with your videos because there won't be much outside stuff going on except to show Tux bounding through the snow like he does. So stinking cute! 🤣 You'll be able to be cleaned up and dressed for those videos though. 😉

if you do not have one or two game camera's see if your local Fish and Game has a few to help you pin point what is your predator is. they will also be helpful on finding a solution to them. Maybe semi auto chicken coops that allow the chickens to roam but guard them from predators. As long as you are feeding the predator, they will come back for more.

@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving

ice shield doesn't stop ice damming proper ventilation does. but it will help protect the underlayment it you have ice damming. We have a 6/12 metal roof with proper ventilation. Ice damming won't be a problem.

@@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving Get with your truss manufacturer as soon as you can. If the garage and house upper floors are the same level it is easy, if they are not it gets only slightly more complicated. I would say the time is now or at least before you start to figure materials for the metal. Ideally you can follow the line of the house roof to the addition and gable up the garage roof.
