This is the garage slab pour for our DIY garage. We are building a garage with an apartment above it on our off-grid homestead. Today, we finally get to pour the slab. It is about 4 inches thick and reinforced with wire mesh and rebar. There is a vapor barrier under the slab to help keep the moisture out.

Good job on the concrete pour. FYI not that it really matters concrete never really cures if gets gradually harder with time. It is said that the Hoover dam is still curing and will be forever I believe it’s a little thicker than your pour 6 to 9 feet thick on average. I enjoy your enthusiasm with your build project no hatters here.

Awesome job. I like it being sloped with the lower side towards the front. Thats how i did mine 20 years ago. Seems much better than a drain in the middle. Ive seen them fail, and not drain. I've also seen outside ground water back up and drain inside the garage. Thats not good, I think this was the best way to go. Good job, and great team work.

As every thing is Solar, could have put under floor heating in keep cars warm in winter!!, there is a tool, with a long handle you could have hired to put in relief cuts when the concrete is still wet, save all that dust, love Jules description That Meshy stuff!!, good to have friends come to help. Thanks for video, looking good, Thanks from UK.

1/8 inch slope. I bet you can't pour flat enough to not have puddles. I had plenty of thin puddles. A broom or squeegee will do the job. The melt will have sand and mud in it anyway. Do you have humidity in your part of Idaho? We had no humidity ever in New Meadows.

The hook lifting the mesh does not work use reo chairs they are cheap and do a very good job have been supervising concrete pours for over 40 years in Australia some large 500 to 600 meters pours in commercial/industrial buildings mesh needs to be at the right level as per engineers drawings

Have the locals ever explained why they pour the slab after the walls are up and access is more difficult? Truck has a tough time and rodding has a wall in the way, then the bull float can't be done from the sides where there is less extensions needed. But I don't know why they still put vents in the crawlspace either. Be Blessed

Why dont you use standoffs to hold the reo at the correct level whilst pouring your concrete instead of lifting the reo. Standoffs give a much more accurate level for the reo.

Drains are not a good idea these days. Garages that had them had to fill them in. That's due to environmental regulations. You can squeegee it out the door but God forbid it goes down a drain! Happened to a buddy of mine that owned a gas station. It made no sense to him either. Can't argue with the EPA though. I guess you can, but it won't get you anywhere.
