Nice video. I'm a driver for ABC at the Columbia TN store (384). We only have flatbed and Moffetts. I wish we had booms but it wouldn't be practical for our store. I used to operate a 23 ton 100' telescopic boom truck but I'd love to run one of those articulated HIAB booms.

My company just got one of these and I hope they trained me on this I have plenty of proof floating experience driving Moffett with a semi truck or Gradle this is definitely my next step cross my fingers

You made that look easy. I used that same boom back in 2011 and it is an awesome rig. My first full day using it we did 800 sheets of 4x10x5/8" into the sixth floor window. The window was 54" tall so when i flipped the rock on it's edge i had 6" of room. I found watching the shadow on the side of the wall as the lift was going up showed me how close i was.

Nice! I never hauled sheet rock but I have delivered though upper story windows before. Its a challenge. But the remote made it a lot easyer. Sad to say, I don't run a drywall boom anymore! I graduated or at least made a lateral move to operating a Stick hook and cable crane. Talk about a challenge! But lots a fun.

Thank you! I apprieciate that! It takes awhile to get the fundamentals but once you get comfortable and with lots of practice!!!... You will get more fluent in your operating skills! It took me at least a year to get a smooth and fluent movements. After that, I was getting a lot of request from contractors to deliver their materials! Not to mention, all of the more difficult deliveries!

I do that with a wire crane I pick up 4 at time, takes about a half hour to unload a full semi

I prefer the controller rather than sitting ontop of the truck especially in the hot ass sun doing rooftop deliveries

I would agree, but there are times when I wish I hade that seat so I can get a better view. I operated one truck that had both options and I used it often. especially when the remote died on me! It was nice to have those hand controls!!

My Hiab doesn't have a cooling fan, actually. Too small to need one, apparently. Turns out it was a defective coil.

It took about a year to get fluent with it, but it still gave me a challenge!

Do you transport gyproc too?

My Hiab stops slewing after a long unloading job on hot days. The coil is getting the signal and was replaced but still doesn't work. Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?

john wilson is your oil cooler fan working? Sounds like you might have a spool starting to come apart...

The worst part is if you have to lift the tools. Stacking skids that your forks don't even have the stretch to reach with loosely packed tools is the worst with low slope loads.

I pick up 8 at a time

since they was not that heavy i would have strapped them 2 and 2, to get lower count of lifts.or even more.
@midniterun36168 жыл бұрын
+Asoke 21 That would of been done but the store I worked at did not want straps on the truck. Trust be that would of been a lot easier! And lifting 2 at a time would be ok due to weight but when I lift 2 like that stacked, their was not enough clearance for the ISO as when the forks begin to lift I have to counter the weight dist. by raising the forks. As I did that it "sucked" the ISO up too close to the boom intern knocking the upper bunk off the lower. So one by one it went! Also, this was my first Year of doing this. I have since learned quite a bit since then.

+Midnite Run Can understand the store not wanting you to lift 2 at the time, perhaps they did not want to damage the sides, but maybe they dident know there is edge protector plastic stuff to put the straps in :) Atm i working same as you, using FASSI,HIAB and PALFINGER cranes from 10-30 ton/sqm, i get all kinds of construction stuff to lift of at customers. Biggest problem for me is that when the customer orders like wood panels, they are asked if they want to have edge protectors added for the delivery, but since its a small extra cost they always say NO. So that means normally when i make the lift the bottom 1 or 3 panels gets busted edges, but since iv´e been hording these edge protectors i dont need to see any sad faces when im done with my lifts :) Foam peices i use the soft plastic protectors, while on wood i use the hard plastic ones. I look like a king, but i do explain to the customer that the next guy might not have these, so they should add it to the order next time to have the load edge protected if they want to be sure.

You are slow, you have the wrong equipment for this material. I unload one truck (26 bd 4x8) on 30 min

Yeah, but the company he's with isn't specifically flat roof. They provide plenty of steep slope jobs that a typical crane would be pointless for. These drywall booms get the job done just fine. Besides, I don't see any workers installing the iso anyways
@jbrannon5094 жыл бұрын
This truck isn't specifically for ISO. ABC is a huge supplier of shingles as well. You can reach these booms over a home and set shingles in a back yard thats not accessible by a Moffett.
@michaelledford47518 жыл бұрын
I'd work that rig to death in one 8 hour work day . Roofers need real cranes,preloading the roof is a waste double handling material,but a real crane and bring up materia as needed for the work day and it'll pay for itself fast. Doubel handeling material is as wasteful as double handling year off,it's huge $$$$ down the drain ,I ran a 30 to 50 man crew for 30 yrs .
