I’ve found just being on a roof doing repairs or reroof gets me plenty of jobs. Do quality work and $$$ follows. People find me not the other way around. Realize. The trades are sparse of people with A LOT of work needing to be done. It’s quite easy once you get going and word of mouth brings me more than I will ever have time for haha. Just keep up the hustle. Get in good with good contractors or painters or framers or whoever. Make friends with everyone and clean up after yourself. Believe you me. You’ll have people calling you at 2am to get a quote cause that’s the only time you have for them XD. GOOD LUCK GUYS! Hope it helps. Also it’s quite easy to learn different roofing like rubber, cedar, metal, aluminum, slate etc. There’s books and videos heck. Just follow around a old guy that’s been around awhile. You’ll NEVER run out of work. Dead of winter I still have work a plenty. Oh. And don’t do a hack job. If you don’t know it. Learn it. Even if you have to call someone up to get knowledge on how something fits together or bent etc. I’m not knocking his advice at all. Quite often I want to go to a slate house just to make sure they have a slate missing. Idc if they give me the business or not haha. Just being friendly to people and honest goes a lot longer to success.

Caleb, this is absolutely EXCELLENT advice! You are right and just starting off doing small repair jobs is a great way to get your cash flow started while building a customer base. And HONESTY and INTEGRITY always wins!

I just wanted to confirm and see if you could shed some light on my questions. Are you finding the deals then out sourcing the deals to good roofing contractors and taking a percentage? I have always been in construction as a carpenter but want to move to sales. Looking at your course you have advertised and appreciate you sharing your success.

No, we are a roofing company by trade. I think what you are asking is, do we do the work ourselves or hire subcontractors? I would say at least 70% of roofing companies out there use subcontractors to do the actual work, including us. If you are wanting to move into sales, I would suggest working for a big company that has a sales training course for you. If you are interested in starting your own company and learning to do what we do, our course would be excellent for that!

Only scrubs do door knocking :)

Well, we wouldn't say scrubs, BUT we just hope they are making a long term commitment to their business if they are out pounding the pavement!
