Nice tour, but I’m still on the fence about coatings. I haven’t found one yet that does what it says it will do. Everyone of them fail prematurely. Then when they do the manufacture never backs their warranty. Every time the answer is you probably didn’t clean what you were adhering to good enough. Yeah, OK! Pressure washers, scrub brushes, chemicals, I’d lick the freaking surface with my tongue. But apparently it wasn’t clean enough. Coatings are my last choice. In other words, I never choose them any more.

Have you ever used a coatings system? Most everyone just slaps a coating only on and that’s why it fails around the seams and penetrations. You’ll want to do a system, just like shingles with starter, hip and ridge, underlayment, etc. If you use a Conklin system, you’ll use everything in order and you’ll be fine. I have. Recently we just installed a GE enduris System. We will see how that works. I will say I am very impressed with their flashing. Their liquid flashing is different from their coating. Has a 20 year manufacture warranty. They passed it, it’s on them. Before that we tried a few Gaco products. But following the manufactures instruction, areas would still split open. Obviously we need to use them on repairs if the roofs have already been coated. But I’m still a big fan of installing Single ply roof systems. Could be because I’m old-school? But nothing beats the real thing. Thank you very much for the offer! I will look into Conklin. I’m surprised I have never heard of them. Are they territorial? In my area we mostly deal with ABC supply, And Allied.

@Joel, thank you for the comment. Sorry about your bad experience with coatings so far. We believe prep work and proper workmanship is key when installing coatings systems. Using the proper cleaner and primer that work well with the coatings is also important. Yes, you should be able to eat off of the roof before the coating is applied :) I was glad to host Dmitry at Conklin and would be glad to show you a factory tour, or do a call to discuss our warranty details.

Joel Hagen Conklin is not territorial, we have contractors in all 50 states. I am working personally with Roofing insights to help share knowledge with the Conklin coatings system. I agree, in same cases a Single ply is a better choice. But in most cases when the substrate and underlayment is dry, you can go ahead and install one of our quality roof coating systems.

Hi sir I don’t have a shop yet because I don’t do a lot roofing work and when I do work I do for the company’s I know and not always use subcontractor I change by square I do all labor and company’s prove it everything so you have video’s for sale to show me how to be a sales person to help myself and 1 more thing I ben doing roofing since 1995 TPO and PVC 5 years hot and torch and cool proses and the rest of my years just single ply and thanks for you reply sir

Please understand this a multilevel company. The people that get you into the business and profit from that are also your competition. I am in the program strictly for the product..As fair as Roofing insight normally appear I would question if they are in the Conklin program and if they are going to review other coating products.

Ive signed up over 100 guys and only 3 guys are in my direct market. And Ive never had to bid against them. Ive actually helped 2 of those guys win jobs in my area. I happy to share my knowledge. Yes i make a commission from my efforts, but when you buy from the supply house, there are about 4 middle men between manufacturer and you that get a cut. My ABC rep would ge a cut for every job i ordered even though he rarely helped me. Most of the time he didn't even know i did the job. Ive been in business 26 years and used over 15 manufactures, and i think this is about the most fair system I've come across.
