So Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown is upon us, and I have made this video to help you determine which character you should try out! Its hardly an exhaustive guide(each character is so in depth a proper guide would be minimum 1 hour long each) but should give you a decent idea of the basics of each character and hopefully help you on your journey! This game is launching on playstation plus so there is more than likely millions of people out there trying VF for the first time and I hope I can help make your experience a bit more enjoyable!

Also, my recommendation to anyone getting into VF for the first time as a veteran who hasn't touched a VF game in a decade ... use the block button. Defense matters in this franchise

@@BilalKhan-ng3ex Well, you would be wrong then. VF is definitely deeper in terms of gameplay at higher levels than Tekken. @anyany2021 Жыл бұрын
@@saebkahled9260 Well that's too bad since it's almost a direct comparison considering VF was where Harada took inspiration from. VF is the OG of 3d fighters, Tekken wouldn't even be a thing if VF didn't come first. I'm not saying Tekken is bad, it's an ok game if you don't mind only using 12 to 15 moves and 12% of the roster as your complete offence in order to have a better win/loss ratio against top players. You do you. However, there is no question that VF is by far a deeper more complete experience in terms of a full fighting game and it only gets better in the pros because instead of using less moves you have to use more.

@@komlat253 you have a point there, Marshall. It's possibly a situation where a person is imagining "complex" but does not yet have a frame of reference to picture what that term means relative to the game, you know? At the risk of melodrama, I find many subjects to be this way. Nature for example. We know there are "a lot" of stars or spiders, but when someone starts sharing numbers it becomes overwhelming. Suddenly we realize our "a lot" only holds up relative to our experience. I think that, depending on the individual, if the experience calls for a certain threshold of depth, they'll instead choose to return to what they were doing before. Having Akira as the face of the game may be a very subtle form of communicating 2 messages from Yu Suzuki to the gen pop. 1. He looks like your standard middle of the road Ryu pick up and play character when he’s anything but. He isn’t just deep and hard to master BUT he’s simultaneously button mashing resistance personified and learning him requires a serious investment of time and energy but also if you DONT learn him you have no chance. Most ppl unfamiliar with the game will choose him cuz he looks like Ryu upon first playing and that will be their first lesson with this game; this is gonna be WAY harder than you think and there is depth here but you gotta unlock it. 2. Akira being 1 of the hardest to learn and certainly the hardest original character to learn and also being the face of the game is a message to those that know the game; This game is deep, difficult and rewarding. Ppl that know Akira is a bear to learn seeing him as the mascot can also recognize him as a metaphor for the entire engine itself. He speaks not only to the depth of the system but also the reward that comes from mastering it since he, once mastered, is one of the most powerful characters . Once one learns the game they can make any character a complete beast… Okay okay I’ll go take a walk!

Kage was my character when I used to play this game! But after I watched the full video, I will pick up Jean Kujo, and maybe Brad Burns. I was going to play Vanessa, but then you said "too cool for school kickboxer" and I had no choice but to play Brad.

Brad Burns' moves draw from Muay Thai, especially the faints and the clinch, popularly known in MMA as the Thai clinch

@@bryanbridges6152 yes. Though in this game, if you don't know how to break it, you will eat massive damage

Talking about Jean: “I don’t think characters will get designed like this today.” Yeah, but you can’t deny that a French, goth, karateka with chain belts and a crop top under his gi looks rad as hell

Jean is actually half French & half Japanese.

I had only heard the name of the game until they announced the PS+ deal. I can't believe the style variety while still basing everything off real fighting styles... It's insane and amazing

Just downloaded this as a ps plus game. I used to main Jacky on VF2 on the Sega Saturn because as a kid he reminded me of a super Saiyan

i love how wolf's burning hammer is as you said the single most damaging move in the game ...as in real life it was one of if not THE most protected moves in wrestling with i think only kota ibushi kicking out of it against the brian kendrick in a wwe event

thanks for uploading these VF videos roofle. i had vf3 when i was a kid but i was just messing around. this'll be my first vf to get into and it looks pretty interesting. i think i've come to realize that 3d fighters are more my pace. i tend to pick these up quicker than 2d for some weird reason. appreciate your content bro!

Goh Hinogami since day 1. His damage with the grabs is just ridiculous, also his combos are very easy to follow.

Thanks so much for this. I've never played a 3D fighting game (unless you count some VERY casual Soul Calibur 2 years ago) so I'm learning how to approach them. I'm relatively new to 2D fighters too, but at least there I know I usually like zoners which aren't a thing here. Right now I'm thinking of starting with Aoi, Jean, or maybe Eileen
@ShumunyaCho2 жыл бұрын
SoulCalibur is a weapons fighter, so it's not exactly the same as hand to hand.

The crazy thing about VF is that how u unique each character is ,many characters have such unique concepts in combat than u will ever see in other fighting games. Like it's crazy how many unique concepts are just not in other games and i play tekken and DOA on a high level. I wish i was ever good enough at vf
@chrisscott30713 жыл бұрын
It was the point of the game. Virtua fighter was about showing what 3d fighters can be. So many people seem to think 2d is superior to 3d but when I get into this series, the work that's gone into it , and the depth of the combos and movements it really does shine. I wish it was paraded more but it's so criminally neglected in tournaments

Wait is this out?? I’ve been so excited for this! Virtua Fighter 5 was one of my favorite fighting games. Couldn’t believe they were remaking it. Shun Di and Kage Maru were super fun to play. Great video as always! Edit: Once again the joke is on me since the Xbox doesn’t get this game 🥲
