I been truckin 13yrs and I still call my mom every load and tell her the address. She will look it up on Google maps and tell me how to get in the places. She'll also tell me if I'm gonna run into any weather. Makes her still feel needed and I appreciate it.

Some advice from one driver to another. Always hook up your air hoses to the clamps to keep dirt and water out of the lines, also, when you are lowering your landing gear, Lower it until you got a half inch to inch gab between the ground and bottom of the sandshoe or landing gear. Then lower your bags. Great video.

New subcriber. I drove 10 years OTR and regional before going local. Regional was nice because usually your home on weekends. Local driving you have to drive back and forth from home to work. Good thing about regional is that you don't have to do that. Wake up and drive. If the landing gear is a pain I start cranking in the hi gear then switch to the lower gear. Hate when they crank up the opposite way

@@justin-reed I'm in Phoenix. The place I want to go is 4 weeks and does train manual but I'd have to do weekends so it'd be 8 weeks instead. Just waiting to see if I qualify for financing. It's hard to afford doing Swift training for 3-4 weeks with no pay so I'm trying to find alternatives.

My first trainer was meh. They got me a 2nd one few days later. Only was with my 2nd trainer for 9 days then upgraded. Swift know they have good and bad mentors. They do their best to hold on to the good and usually listen to students when they want to switch from bad mentors. Best of luck. I might make a video on this topic because this important and an experience I’ll never forget

I would mount a removable back up camera on the trailer. Very useful especially in truckstops at night. Also get you a tire bat to make sure theirs no flats. Or at least kick them

Just take 3-4 days worth of essentials. And drive what you’re comfortable with. If the speed limit is 60mph going around around a curve. Slow down to 50-55 if you dont feel comfortable going 60.

@@davidshafer1872 a lot better than the freightliner Cascadia. It handles like a real truck. Freightliner just drives smoother. I really liked the international only thing i disliked was that it has a wide Turning radius when you try to u turn Freightliner Cascadia is just too sensitive when backing up or driving 1-10mph. It’s good for rookie driving

As an ex local driver is 90 % backing 10% driving. Make sure that your 5th wheel is down after a drop and hook. I didn't once and gave the trailer 2 huge vampire 🧛♂️ bites. Also make sure that that trailer is high enough to back under.

I thought stops had to be approved by dispatch and premapped out? I went to orientation for Prime Inc but I left because it was so nasty there and I didn't enjoy all the Trump supporters there. I figure I can get my CDL through a local school. But one of the main reasons I kinda didn't want to do truck driving is having to pre map out the stops because if I had to use a restroom I had to wait.

@@simply_the_dev7588 drivers are captains of the ship. Dispatch can only give you loads. They can’t tell you what to do when you’re behind the truck. You eat or you want to eat you stop where you want to stop and more importantly you drive when its safe and shut down when you think it isn’t safe

Never heard so much talking for no reason when someone is trucking. Tip...if you don't remember if you need to slide your tandems back just look at the majority of the other trailers in the area you dropped in and that should give you an idea Tip 2...When manipulating the landing gear put one hand on the trailer as you spin it with the other. Will save your back from getting pulled some day
