Some advice from one driver to another. Always hook up your air hoses to the clamps to keep dirt and water out of the lines, also, when you are lowering your landing gear, Lower it until you got a half inch to inch gab between the ground and bottom of the sandshoe or landing gear. Then lower your bags. Great video.

New subcriber. I drove 10 years OTR and regional before going local. Regional was nice because usually your home on weekends. Local driving you have to drive back and forth from home to work. Good thing about regional is that you don't have to do that. Wake up and drive. If the landing gear is a pain I start cranking in the hi gear then switch to the lower gear. Hate when they crank up the opposite way

God Bless you and enjoy your adventures. You're 1 of the select few that gets paid for traveling and sight seeing. I would always wash my clothes then shower. After put them in the dryer and go eat. After get the clothes out. A wire bound Atlas is best the cheaper ones will tear up

Awesome job on this first video, Currently in the process of getting through the cdl-a permit stuff and doing the airbrake test this coming week. myself. Quick question: How was it with your trainer? Heard a lot of stories both good and bad so just curious how that process went for you :).

My first trainer was meh. They got me a 2nd one few days later. Only was with my 2nd trainer for 9 days then upgraded. Swift know they have good and bad mentors. They do their best to hold on to the good and usually listen to students when they want to switch from bad mentors. Best of luck. I might make a video on this topic because this important and an experience I’ll never forget

@@davidshafer1872 a lot better than the freightliner Cascadia. It handles like a real truck. Freightliner just drives smoother. I thought stops had to be approved by dispatch and premapped out? I went to orientation for Prime Inc but I left because it was so nasty there and I didn't enjoy all the Trump supporters there. I figure I can get my CDL through a local school. But one of the main reasons I kinda didn't want to do truck driving is having to pre map out the stops because if I had to use a restroom I had to wait.
@justin-reed

@@simply_the_dev7588 drivers are captains of the ship. Dispatch can only give you loads. They can’t tell you what to do when you’re behind the truck. You eat or you want to eat you stop where you want to stop and more importantly you drive when its safe and shut down when you think it isn’t safe

Never heard so much talking for no reason when someone is trucking. Tip...if you don't remember if you need to slide your tandems back just look at the majority of the other trailers in the area you dropped in and that should give you an idea Tip 2...When manipulating the landing gear put one hand on the trailer as you spin it with the other.
