Hey noble, I'm new seller and I've just been flipping lots of records and selling them in smaller lots. My last purchase was 150 jazz records for $250. So, I've been doing well and found great cool stuff but I'd like to increase my margins a bit. Could you make a video on your process of grading a vinyl, finding the value of the vinyl on discogs/popsike, and finally pricing the vinyl according the it's condition? It would be great help to new sellers like me and I'm sure others would enjoy watching it too!

If I may offer a couple of suggestions: place the speakers proud of the shelves/ console, the furniture could be messing with the sound. I'd also say it would be good to get them away from the wall. I'd also pick up some sound absorption panels from gek, you will notice a big difference in sound! I like your videos, thank you for all you do.

What a terrific video! You have a nice set-up and listening room there, too. You are right on the SLD2, it was my very first brand new table back in my youth along with a Grace F-8/L cartridge. I used it for a couple of years before purchasing a Denon DP-55K. Those JBL's are sweet and the Peachtree is a nice piece. What I especially appreciate about your tour is that it appears you are very happy with your set-up and over the decades I have come to think that any music enthusiast really only needs to please hims/her own self. I don't have anything big name fancy any more. My main system is a simple one consisting of an Emotiva XDA-2 power amplifier, Adcom pre-amp, Marantz 5003 CD player and a vintage pair of KEF 104/2 loudspeakers. No more turntable or vinyl as I got out of the vinyl several years ago. When you get older it begins to get rough moving crate after crate of LP's around if/when you relocate and stairs aren't your friend anymore. Organization of music has always been a simple alphabetical system with the caveat being that I tend to catalog music in such a way of alphabetizing usin"The" as in The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, etc. Kind of dumb I know but worked for me! I love the attitude of being an enthusiast as opposed to being an audiophile. My focus is on the listening. I like it to sound really good to my ears without ever having to outspend my needs. You won't find high end cables or blocks suspending speaker wires over the carpet here. But to each his/her own. Nice job!

I like the set-up, reminds me of my audio file days. A smile came to my face when I saw the Pioneer reel to reel. I have that same reel that I bought new in 1980. I use to have people come over with there vinyl and record copies. Now that same reel sits in the original box, haven't used it in years. Sorry Dylan I've turned into a digital music guy in my old age.

Great video Dillion. I too own the RT-707 Had the direction bulbs converted to LED’s and capacitors/resistors updated and or replaced. Very solid machine. Also have the 909 as well. I had a Linn Basik table in the early 2000’s story on it was I bought it at the local flea market for $25...yes $25! I about fell over lol the guy didn’t know what he had. The stylus was shot and yes it had a Linn cartridge. Sadly it died 6 years later, motor went out. But hey, it was a joy to use! I have a nice library of factory recorded reels myself. You would be envious of some of the titles in there😯 Have a great weekend my vinyl lovin’ brother!

Great video. I had 2 pairs of L100's (one pair of regular L-100's, and one pair of L-100 Centuries) which I had gotten - get this - as a throw-in on a small Kenwood receiver on Craigslist. I paid the lady $40.00 (it was all I had with me at the time) just to show my appreciation. She said they were too big and she didn't want them. They were fine, but didn't have the original grills (they had the grill frames, but with some sort of fabric over them rather than the "egg crates." My total out-of-pocket for the two pairs was $15.00 - and I would up selling both pairs at different times later on (after enjoying them for about 6-7 years) for $350.00 and $400.00. I love hearing about people's great yard sale and thrift store scores. Make me very happy. I'm also glad that I'm not alone in good fortune like that. I would up replacing the L-100's with some B&W's which I just like a little better. Have a great weekend.

Nice! That ClearAudio turntable is excellent! As you mentioned, for folks wanting a decent 'budget' turntable, then you can't go wrong with the newer Audio Technica AT-LP120X version.... Much improved, and silent quartz-locked direct drive motor, and a much more refined tone-arm - no play in the bearings, the counterweight actually matches the weight it shows (unlike the older version!), and of course, the anti-skate works perfectly too.... This turntable is pretty much the modern day equivalent of the old classic 80s Technics direct drives as far as arm/motor performance goes! It sounds pretty damn good too for only $250 - especially with the supplied AT-VM95E cartridge... it's a bargain, and quality product! If you can stretch a bit higher then maybe a Pro-Ject T1, or Debut Carbon, or maybe a Rega P1/P2...? Not sure on the USA prices of those - they're still considered 'budget' here in the UK!! I like the Audio Technica overall because of the direct-drive, the good quality arm, and ease of cartridge changing, and the sound quality - to my ears, it matches the Rega and Pro-Ject easily, and has a propulsive drive to the music that only a direct-drive (or even older idler drive ) deck can give... :-) And at $250, it's a bargain!

When you get to higher-end equipment, good matching becomes important. As you found out, the Concept MC puts out a very low signal, .4 millivolts, compared to 3-5 millivolts for a typical moving magnet. You've got a Black Cube Statement, which offers 61 dB of gain in the MC input, which should be plenty. However, out of the box, it only offers input impedance of either 100 ohms or 1000 ohms. You are probably using 100 ohms, but it might sound better with a slightly higher loading. You can also buy a separate power supply from Lehmann, which most users consider a major upgrade. As most MC cartridge users know, the stylus in in MC is not user-replaceable. I see that Clearaudio states that the stylus will last up to 8000 hours, but most experienced users would not expect a MC cartridge to last that long. The most durable ones I've used, the Benz Reference II and the van Den Hul One, lasted somewhere between 2000 and 3000 hours. Once they get up there, the sound quality starts to gradually deteriorate, and then declines sharply. It's not just the stylus, it's the suspension and the cantilever as well. Hope this helps - happy listening!

The 909 is nice, but if you want trouble, get that one. If you ever want to go 10", the Teac A-3300SX is a very solid choice. Sounds great, always works. As for the 707, main issue you'll have when you keep using it is that the right pinch roller will run dry (I mean, the right roller, the left one is just a fancy looking tape guide). The deck all of a sudden will start having speed issues. Just take the pinch roller off, put some oil on the axle it's rotating around, pinch roller back, years of playing. RT-707's are amazing. I miss mine even though I barely use open reel tape anymore. Audiophile tip; Try the Schiit Mani. I know the Black Cube is in a way different price range. But I still suggest you do ;).

Good honest video. Like you I am not an "Audiophile" but I do like decent sound reproduction. I also have the "Clearaudio Concept" turntable and I love it. I bought it new and couldn't afford the moving coil cartridge at the time (too bad since my Denon amplifier has a moving coil input). Maybe someday but for now the Clearaudio MM cartridge will have to do. I went through several vintage turntables but found the maintenance too much of a pain. Even my vintage Denon amplifier needed some maintenance (basically just cleaning switches and pots). I like the look of your main speakers (not such a big fan of JBL's which I find are more of a rock speaker). I like a speaker with a flat response curve but with decent bass extension as long as it is clean/tight base). I designed and built my own transmission line speakers and I like the way they sound. Don't get me wrong I believe JBL's are great speakers for rock music but they miss some of the detail in the lower bass which is important in classical and Jazz. Thanks

The turntable is the best part of your system and would benefit from a better mc phono pre amp than the one you have if you really want to here what your deck is capable of. Be very careful with that cartridge. Mine just got damaged. The cantilever snapped off. I got an Ortofon Blue as a replacement. I saw a bunch of people in the VC use the Blue and recommended it. To me going from a $1200 cart to a $250 cart was eye opening. My favorite audiophile pressings and jazz records now sounded dull and boring. I mean I could understand why the VC people I suggested records to never flipped out over them. With the Blue cart I heard the same record but the magic was gone. I am looking into getting my Clear Audio cartridge fixed so this is all temporary.

Is the "Dino" T-shirt on your website shipping? I should have asked before I just ordered it, but oh well, got the "Vinyl Isn't Going Anywhere" shirt as well. Thanks.

Why not get a subwoofer? I bet that would really love that. I really like my HSU VTF-3 mk 5.
