Wow you guys, the overwhelming theme of your comments is that this wasn't the right one to react to as he was unfortunately not very well... can't believe just how sick he was, what he went through and how unwell he was after singing this 😢 what's outstanding to me though, is that had you not told me, I'd never have known! This still was one of my favourite performances from him because it was so incredibly moving... I'm sure his other performance of this song might be vocally more impressive but just know, personally, I was majorly moved and STILL impressed by this... testament to what an INCREDIBLE performer he is. Wow... but will watch that performance for you all 😊❤️ Also the baby was adopted by the person who wrote the song?!?!?? Wow... makes me so emotional all over again 😢 ❤️❤️❤️

It wasn’t the “wrong” performance lol, just dears love to share all the back story & there’s a lot on this one. Usually they recommend this version, but the extended on Gloria Wu channel that shares the backstory… then they also recommend Bastau version because it is so🔥. His performances are all so amazing, but his actual concerts always bring it to another level. And his Bastau concert was a huge deal- I think his 1st full major concert following his success on The Singer. His country of Kazakhstan actually helped fund it, & dears flew from all over the world to be there. You will see he’s very skinny because he was working night & day for it. You also must see Adai + Daididau (it’s a combo instrumental & song) from this concert… always Di’s dream to share Kazakh culture with the world. Don’t think you’ve seen him sing traditional Kazakh music yet. It’s very emotional 💜

Thank you for reacting to the Singer version. I highly recommend you to watch the version with the story behind on the Gloria Wu channel. In the Singer version he was so sick and had a severe sore throat and fever. He lost his voice the night before his performance of Daybreak. I heard him say in an interview that it was very painful throughout the song, that his throat feels like shredded glass but he didn’t want to disappoint the people who stand behind him and so he pulled himself together and went on stage. He got 5 injections from this doctor in the hospital. And the doctor told him not to sing high notes. You can see how concerned the other competitors were and they suffered with him. They knew he was not doing well and one of them even gave him a very expensive Chinese medicine from his own inventory. The problem was his busy schedule between the performances and he didn’t have enough time to recover. He made very good friends there and many friendships still exist today. After the performance he lost his voice again. Yes, it’s unbelievable how he always manages to convey emotions to such a degree. Though I think in this one particular version the emotions he shows are mostly concern about his voice keeping up with the song and the pain he must have been in doing it. In the video of Dimash FC Deutschland you can see him holding his throat outside and shaking his head in pain right after the performance. But unfortunately you don’t see there the backstory of Daybreak, but you know by now. Gloria Wu: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4mqd2qsnKqMgc0 Dimash FC Deutschland: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gX6kYWCAdsikhK8 Maybe you will see it in private The Bastau version (no sore throat) of Daybreak is phenomenal and mind-blowing. So emotional and heartbreaking. In both versions I always cry my eyes out. I don’t know why I have to cry more. Because of the story or the fact, that he was in such pain and performed anyway because he didn’t want to disappoint the audience. Both version were in the same year 2017. Bastau version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJy9hX2ggdR3bJY But believe me, Bastau will blow your mind. The emotions he brings in there, the desperation and sadness. And of course the stage show. There are water fountains on stage. I read that Dimash insisted on doing this so that the environment at the scene of the accident could be better understood. He’s just a perfectionist.

Dimash said when he first learned the story of this tragedy, he was 10 years old and his whole body trembled. So many of his songs have very meaningful stories. For example, he was affected by the story and sad death of Gregory Lamarchell, the young French singer who catapulted to fame via his version of SOS, the famous song from the French pop sci-fi opera, STARMANIA, popular since 1979. He’s composed 11 songs himself, a couple when he was a teenager, and each of them are infused with great passion. And to think with all his accomplishments, the best is YET TO COME!!!!!❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏
@rebeccarowland25332 жыл бұрын
An added note regarding SOS version by Gregory Lamarchell, Dimash was so moved by the story that he phonetically learned the song and performed it for the French Star Academy in tribute to Gregory while still a teenager.

Gratitude to you for reacting to this version of "Daybreak' first, prior to seeing the one at Bastau which many Dears recommend without preparing reactors for the backstory which does not appear on the Bastau video. Knowing the backstory is half the emotional impact, but now that you do----on to Bastau! The woman who wrote the song adopted the little boy. He is having a good life in spite of the tragedy.

A Chinese poet & singer heard about this very sad story & adopted the little boy concerned & later wrote this song from the child's perspective, as you said. There is another video of Dimash singing this without being ill, as he was here, and is amazing. He is a master of conveying the emotion to stories isn't he? Thanks again for sharing this 😊👍

Hi love! Dimash had a sore throat when he performed this song. The Doc gave him 6 shots of medicine to make him able to sing. He was in a lot of pain. The other contestants were concerned about his health. You can see it in their expressions.

The back story video on this is that he lost his voice the day before and they showed him getting 5 or so shots in his neck. Dr. said not to sing too high. Worried if the voice would come thru. Another great live version of this is from 2017 full concert where he was in great health and voice!! Vid Title with over 4 million views : Dimash - Daybreak | Bastau 2017 4,041,130 viewsAug 17, 2018 MASSIVE stage and audience! HE was VERY scary thin in this solo concet as he worked so hard to prepare for this monster concert with dancing, singing, instrument playing etc. THE SINGER who wrote this song, female can't remember her name, adopted the boy who lost his parents. DQ said in an interview that he highly admired her song writing skills. Just came home from my killer 1:30 AM 2.5 hour workout. And I always give myself 1 video reward, this was it! Thank u as always! Be well! :)

For a song that comes from the depths of a tragedy, it takes an incredibly talent (and more importantly) compassionate human being to pull it off. Dimash is a gift. He embodied that overwhelming pain in every part of himself in that song. I foundyself holding my breath through a lot of it because the emotions of his voice actually took my breath away. I had never heard this one before. Thanks for sharing the song as well as your reaction.

Dimash became good friends with Han Hong, the author and original singer of Daybreak. I read in some comments that she was in the audience when Dimash had his first big solo concert Bastau, invited by Dimash. And I saw a videoclip where Han Hong concratulates Dimash on his birthday. Yes, Dimash had lost his voice the day before and had to see a doctor, who told him not to sing any high notes until the throath was better. This joke I saw in some comments: "The doctor called Dimash after the performance and reproached him for using high notes. Dimash: Those were not my high notes."

@@Room2703Reacts The big thing about Dimash is that he loves children. I mean he really does (there are many videos of him on youtube interacting with children) The other big thing is that he feels things very deeply. He is very sensitive … so I have seen him sing this song a few times and it is emotional every single time. (You will see)

Hi Bud, Awesome reaction, as others have told you Dimash was extremely ill when he did this, he had been suffering with flu all the week of the rehearsals and on the morning of the show he lost his voice completely. they took him to a hospital where he had injections direct in his vocal chords and was told 'no high notes' but he still performed to his best and after singing and going back to the green room he was coughing blood ! All this is shown on a YT vid by Gloria WU. The song was written by a Chinese artist Han Hong who went on to adopt the little boy and in the Gloria Wu post it shwed her ringing Dimash just before his performance to wish him luck. You said you wanted to listen again and whilst you wont want to react again I would suggest you listen to the version at his Bastau concert which was a few months after the Singer comp finished, its amazing. 👍👍😊

p.s. you are so right about how DQ deliberately chooses to use his voice. In this version you viewed there are many verses he just speaks....no sustaining of the note. He really serves the song. He has a number of songs that he does not sing any high notes. ONE OF MY MOST FAV songs of DQ is this PARTICULAR VERSION of Qaragym-Ai. There are many versions on KZbin, but I HOPE you'll review THIS version which is the BEST. He did it as a tribute to his mentor and teacher who died of COVID. His teacher's pic is behind DQ as he sings this song ONLY WITH PIANO. IF YOU WANT TO SEE A SOUL BLEED BEFORE YOUR EYES, THIS IS IT. NOT A HIGH NOTE IN THE SONG. IT WAS SAID THAT IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT FOR DQ TO GET THRU THE SINGING OF THIS SONG, and that is very evident. Again, if you choose another version, they are good, but this one with the title provided here is the most soul felt!!! Vid Title: Dimash - Qaraǵym-aı | 2020 1,561,386 viewsOct 17, 2020

Hi Isabella. I don't know if the translation from Spanish to English is correct, but if it is, you're wrong about a couple of things. The Gakku concert was after his Bastau concert. Unforgettable Day is composed by Dimash and the lyrics are written by Oral Baissengir, not his father. Igor Krutoy is a composer (and pianist), not a writer, so I don't understand why anyone would think he wrote this song. I've never heard anyone claim that. Igor composed Ave Maria at the request of Dimash. And most importantly, Dimash is NOT an atheist. He is a devout Muslim. In the case of Kazakhstan, 70 percent are Muslim and 26 percent are Christian.

Awesome reaction! I would like to suggest doing a double reaction, one to this same clip, except from Gloria Wu's channel (kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4mqd2qsnKqMgc0) whereas the clip includes the background of the performance and the song. It is a very touching story of an orphan finding love after his parents saved his life before he died and how he was adopted by the singer who wrote and performed this song. Also, Dimash's had a big problem with his vocal cords (larrangitis?) the day before, so it's a miracle that he was able to perform at all. Then contrast that performance with the way his Bastau performance of the same song (kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJy9hX2ggdR3bJY). The difference when healthy is humongous, and you'd never know it when listening to only him performing it when severely under the weather! So, even when sick, Dimash is a better performer than most singers! Shocking!
