Thanks for your review as I enjoyed watching. I had one of the first Roomba vacuums that lasted for 4 years before breaking. I bought another one and it lasted 4 years too. Before buying another Roomba I looked at many reviews and decided on the Neato Botvac. That one I loved because it cleaned my floors much faster as it was not random. It knew exactly where it vacuumed and did not keep going over and over the same spot. That one eventually broke down. 14 months ago I bought another Neato. This was a much more expensive one - the D7. I loved it. It picked up dust and debris really well. I only have hardwood and tiles - no carpet so I can’t comment on the carpet cleaning. Just recently, the D7 broke down on me. After spending all that money and only using it once per week to pick up a small amount of debris I was shocked that it broke. I got an error code 3000. This indicates the robot is trapped, however the reason is the laser that measures the room is no longer working. I removed the motor and tested it using 5 volts dc and it’s working fine so it’s not the motor. It’s not the o-ring either. After doing more research this seems to be a broken navigation board - a very expensive part which can’t be repaired. It would need to be replaced. Plus the shipping cost. So I’m going to get rid of my 14 month old Neato D7 and never buy a Neato again. I think they used to make quality vacuums but now they’re garbage. The algorithm they use is excellent. I never had my Neato get stuck anywhere. I’m disappointed because for me it was the perfect robot vacuum until it broke after about 60 uses. I live alone and I am the only one who ever touched the vacuum. It was not due to abuse. My house stays very clean which is why I only vacuumed once per week. The dust bin generally had little in it. After watching your video I’m thinking of trying the Shark. I’d get another Roomba but I cannot justify spending so much on a robot vacuum again so soon. I’m hoping that Shark did fix the firmware to make the algorithm more efficient at navigation. Anyway thank you for this demo as it helped me make my decision.

Yeah I love LIDAR sensors but the downside, they tend to be fragile. I had a motor go out on the Roborock S5 Lidar sensor. Glad the video helped make a decision 👍
@ds99
@ds99 4 жыл бұрын
I didn’t realize how fragile they were. My original Neato had a LIDAR sensor too and it lasted for years. I do believe Neato has taken some shortcuts as the quality is not the same as it was. It’s a shame because they were very good at one time. I just watched your other video about the Shark having a buggy app that thinks it’s cleaning when it’s not. That’s not very good. Now I’m not sure what to get. Should I spend the extra money for an I7? Will it last for at least 4 years? Should I just go with the Shark? I better sleep on it. 😂
@RobotMasters
@RobotMasters 4 жыл бұрын
ds99 If it all possible I would spend the extra money to get the Roomba i7+. You may be able to get one for $699. Overall it a better robot, more stable App and better navigation. Only downside the Shark IQ does have better suction so it can clean better on carpet. If you have a small to medium size floor plan the Shark should work.

*I run the m6 daily, and my floors look awesome🌼 **allabout.wiki/BoostIQ** I wet mop 2 days and dry sweep the rest of the days. When I first got it, I used the included disposable pads. I didn't like them--the dry pad has no depth so if it picks up a chunk of something, like dry cat food, then it pushes it around or drags it around the floor. The wet pad wasn't very absorbent so left streaks and wheel marks.*

I want a robot vacuum for my 90% hard floor home. Since it's now August of 2020, what is your opinion of the Shark IQ? I love how it doesn't need bags and it's still so much cheaper than the Roomba's with self-emptying bins. Do you think it's still worth it? Has the navigation improved? Has the app improved? (I have Android) What have you noticed change in the time between this video and now? Thank you so much!
@RobotMasters
@RobotMasters 4 жыл бұрын
So tell me a little about your floorplan, how big is it, is it multi level, does it have a lot furniture or small items on the floor aka pet toys. The Shark IQ good for simpler floorplans with minimal obstacles. The robot only supports one level. If you don't have alot pets than the Proscenic m7 Pro is a good alternative. Keep in mind the self emptying bin doesn't extract dirt as well as the the Shark IQ system but the Lidar navigation is better and can map the area in one session.

The Shark IQ is a excellent Vacuum Cleaner in the fact it cleans really well and the self emptying base does a good job emptying out the robot’s bin. Hopefully Shark can improve the navigation and App stability which is the only two things holding the robot back. Luckily these can be fixed through software updates.

I currently have the roomba I7 plus, roomba s9 plus and the shark IQ with selfempty bin and got to say, the two roomba’s navigation system is superior. BUT, they tend to break down more often, specially the self empty bin, it got to the point that both roomba’s were down and the shark robot was the ONLY one getting the job done till replacement arrival. The shark as of this date hasn’t break down at all! And it’s less expensive. Honestly I would recommend shark over roomba, roomba robots are too picky, too much BS. That’s my experience.

@@nicarau1273 Good to know. I'm about to get an open box Shark at a good discount ($200 Canadian). I'm looking into new discount ones a bit too, since I preferred to get a 2 in 1 w/ a mop. I have an iLife Shinebot 400s on the say, so it's not crucial. The Shinebot is the best mopping robot, which truly cleans and rinses floors (rather than just drag a damp cloth over them), but it would be nice to have a vac robot that can get under my clawfoot tub and couches, and the Shinebot isn't as streamlined.

Shark IQ or Roomba I3+ ?
@RobotMasters
@RobotMasters 3 жыл бұрын
For the special $399 amzn.to/2IR1mOe the i3+ is a worthy buy. Can handle a lot dirt and debris. The Shark IQ has the smart mapping room select and keep out zones. Both do well with pet hair and cleaning performance. If it was me I would go with the i3.

Just returned my Shark LOW IQ Vacuum. It kept losing the wi-fi signal, got lost in closets, never completed the mapping of our house after more than 30 cleanings. When it did clean, it would do a pretty good job. Called Shark Customer Service line for help and when describing the problem found them to be argumentative. Their customer support is what got me to just return my vacuum cleaner. I could put up with some cliches that a software upgrade might have fixed but I won't put up with attitude from some $8.00 and hour desk jockey.... Hello Roomba....

It a timer function I think it after 30 minutes of running it will return to the charger to empty regardless if the bin full or not. From my 2800 sqft home it only does this once with in a cleaning run.

Well, I'm a previous user of a range of Neato's (from the V20 to D80), I also have a Samsung 9000 series still on the job. I moved to a DeeBot N79S (first WiFi machine) and recently retired (repurposed) my D80 Neato to my nr 1 son and his apartment) and relocated my DeeBot to my basement (all carpet). Replaced with a Shark 1001 AI model last month. With all that said, the shark's ONLY and I mean ONLY plus is, I have a 30 day tank. It's mapping? SUCKS. It's battery life? SUCKS. IT's app? SUCKS I could give you a list of pros (Only one thing) and it's cons (see the FEW things I already listed) but doesn't matter. I got it during the holidays at a decent deal, just over $300 but Shark REALLY needs to fix it's mapping software, it's AI is just DUMB. I've tried re-mapping like 4+ times. This thing still can't figure it out. If I had paid FULL price, it's been boxed up and dumped back on the shelf for some other poor sucker . Oh, and customer service? I had issues getting it to pair with Android 9.0. Ended up using a Samsung tablet first, then once it was setup on my network, I was able to connect with it using my cell phone. Shark returned my tech support call 8 days after I called in the first time and they didn't even try, handed me off to 2nd level, who called me back 8 days after I figured it out. So, Shark is a bust. I wouldn't recommend it. I'd recommend a rumba first. Which I have a 2nd gen Scooba that still works, but it's like turning a blind man loose in a bumper car, (no disrespect to the visually impaired) but I'm sure you get the idea. Don't' get me started. So, IMHO, avoid Shark(s). My 2nd floor is carpet. Samsung is a manual start (no sked) so it's run like every other week and only do the walkway (about 500sqft). Decent tank Shark, does 1st floor, all hardwood, some area rugs, about 1800sqft minus I have the utility room cut off and lots of furniture. Runs MWF (wish I could schedule it to do the kitchen everyday via scheduling. Basement, DeeBot. About 1500SQft (doesn't do storage or exercise or bathroom) Small tank. Have to empty it ever other run now that it's been going for 2 weeks. We have 2 cats that don't go to the basement unless there's a storm coming (my weather kitties).

I have not used the Roomba and I own the latest version of the shark IQ - the shark IQ is an awesome machine, well designed and cleans what it cleans very well but overall........the software / programming and possibly the sensor array is very poor. The mapping cleaning pattern and lack of ability to block areas out and to keep it cleaning on max level, it not seeing obstacles and more is a big draw back. If they could get these fixed it would be an awesome machine but I am now seeing a long path of complaints and people poor reviews without any resolutions. I would not buy it again for that reason. comparing machines in a you tube video is not a good comparison because real life is different.

Yeah the only real way to know if the robot vacuum model works for you is to personally try it in your home. Even the best navigating, cleaning robot may not be suitable for your floor plan.
@paulpierson7908
@paulpierson7908 4 жыл бұрын
@@RobotMasters - trust me, the floor plan is not the problem. The area we have her cleaning is a large open 2400 s.f. living area of the house with very little furniture. The floor is porcelain and what little furnishings there is,are placed so she can easily navigate around them. I was the national technology office for J.P. Morgan Chase and designed interfaces between systems and programs. This is clearly a software, engineering and programming issue possibly coupled with inadequate or wrong type of sensors. I have read many many other reviews since I started seeing all of the little issues with my bot and many many people are complaining about the same things. A friend bought a mid priced Neato about half the price of my Shark. I don't know how well it cleans although my friend seems very happy and when I watched its navigation process, I was extremely impressed with it's pattern, efficiency, how it avoided obstacles including me walking in front of it and trying to confuse it unsuccessfully. Get Shark to find some good programmers, dump the current programming and the Shark would be totally awesome. Best wishes

Just purchased the IRobot Roomba i8 from Costco. As sold elsewhere as the i7. It is cleaning and mapping our house on day one. So far really great. Went under bed in master and ran into cords but did not tangle. Much quieter than a typical upright vacuum. I was going to buy the Ecovacs Deetbot T8 at Costco for $850. which I think has since gone on sale. Can't beat Costco return policy.

Wish I would have got a second one for my basement. My 6 year old loves watching it. It may get him to pick his toys up off the floor. That's one of the main reasons I got it.
