He claims the defendant used his property without permission and broke some of his items, so he’s suing for damaged property, towing costs, and storage fees. The defendant argues the plaintiff took up four of the eight bedrooms with his belongings. He says the plaintiff stabbed him, so he’s countersuing for hospital bills and anxiety.

I think he also lied about the knife to the throat because there was no medical report and no police report. Because in order to move into a NEW PLACE you need SEVERAL THINGS including 1st last and security, which is 2 or 3 months of rent UP FRONT as well as passing a background check which usually includes a credit check and a review of your criminal history, all of which many, not all but many, landlords require BEFORE you can rent a place. It’s A LOT, especially here in NYC, which is where they live and where I live so trust me, I know.

PSS My dad was a WW2 Vet. He was trained in carpentry after the war. He developed his own beautiful northern New Mexican style of carpentry woodworking that's got a permanent and special place in the fine arts museums in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I've got a couple of pieces that he carved for me for my high school and university graduations, and a beautiful lamp for a marriage that went bust. I keep those. The rest I've given to my boys. They love the furniture and lamps, but I can't expect them to treat the pieces with loving care like I treated them. They know how I feel about my dad. They know I loved and respected him. He was an honorable man. He deserved respect. I miss my dad so much. I wish my boys had had the gift of more time with him. But such is life.
