The deep dive in the Harderstyles , you just went from defqon (hardstyle) to dominator (hardcore/uptempo) a notch up in tempo ;) . I was at this endshow its a full sensor overload in hearing, feeling and visual haha. Next up an indoor event like Qlimax 2023 | Enter the Void | Official Q-dance Aftermovie (see what q dance can do with in a stadium with a roof ;) )

Defqon 1 has a lot of Hardcore, Uptempo, and Frenchcore stages, but you're correct , it is primarily known for Hardstyle (at least Villain thinks so LOL). Just clarifying.

@@johngray1009That's very true. It's because Defqon 1 started out as a mainly hardstyle festival (mainstage = hardstyle) with hardcore and other harder genres present but not in the spotlight. Q-dance always has been leaning more towards hardstyle, it's what they're known for and how they started.

If you like Dominator, maybe check out the 2022 endshow. That one is pretty different, because it's an endshow that still has an actual DJ and isn't just straight up prerecorded like most endshows.

16:15 that's uptempo hardcore for ya haha, one of the most abrasive subgenres. kinda surprised you liked it, since it's very "out there" compared to normal stuff like hardstyle :D most people think those kicks are too shrill or noisy, i love them lol

to bad it's only the eveningshot, during the day you could see they build a ship/fort (with a damn hot flamethrower lol). Another minor thing was it it had rained really bad that day The "Landingstrip" are light ontop of the bars, that run around the mainstage Dominator is the biggest hardcore festival and Defcon the biggest hardstyle festival. Both in the Netherlands and both by Q-Dance

Watching the Endshows of Harder Styles Events sometimes gets me like a rabbit hole lol.. If you want some really impressive stage designs you have to check out Intents Festival. 203 they had giant castles, 2022 some huuge arcades (game themed), 2019 downtown city like.. Just incedible

And maybe its a nice idea to react to Intents Festival Endshow? Intents is the second largest Harder styles festival in The Netherlands and is totoally different then Defqon and Dominator ;)

I was there when hardcore became the biggest original subculture in the Netherlands in the 90's. From simple small parties in local discotheques and the bigger outdoor events, they are now so much more shows with intricate lights, lasers, fireworks and all. Hardcore is still an acquired taste and in the world of dance music an extreme. You might want to look into the history of ID&T and Thunderdome. It shows hardcore through the years. Above hardcore you have Terror. It is extremely fast and rough. 200+ bpm.

Yep, Dominator is certainly on another level. Though it depends. From what i remember, Defqon1 is a bit catered towards every style in the hard dance scene. Even though i think Hardstyle always has been at the center of it. But you have the "black" & "purple" stages and the blue (The Gathering.) Whereas with Dominator, i always knew it as a more Hardcore rather than Hardstyle event. Not that one excludes the other though. 😀 I like mostly Hardstyle personally. But i do think that there are some great tracks in the Hardcore scene as well. I've been listening to Hardcore/Thunderdome since i was very young but i really started out listening more to dance/trance music at some local party's in my community. Since Hardstyle is pretty melodic, it was an obvious path for me to follow as i love melodic music with a good kick underneath that melody. I don't listen a lot to Hardstyle anymore lately as i've broaden my mind a bit when it comes to music and i don't think Hardstyle is what it used to be anymore. And that's fine, people will eventually grow and there is always some kind of evolution in a music scene. The one thing that we still can say though: Hardstyle/Hardcore is still here! 🥳 Still a big Hardstyle fan and it's still the music i make on my own computer. I would like to go to Defqon1 some day. As i live in Belgium i don't live too far away. But as a wheelchair patient it's not easy to go there, especially if you're alone. Oh well, people can dream! 😎

You guys discovered this music a couple of years too late sadly, nowadays a whole bunch of new, low effort idiot DJs have ruined this music with their stupid f'in peep peep peep kicks and endless fake drops, it bugs the hell out of me. Hardcore used to be real, now it's just short attention span wannabes that are in it for the shock value and can't hold a candle to the OG's, this is straight up trash. If you want to hear actual good, aggressive hardcore, listen to some tracks by Ophidian.
