What an absolute crazy-amazing day of bass fishing the Tonto-end of Roosevelt Lake!
Launching from Orange Peel Rec Area, I was able to make my way deep into the flooded desert. After a few catches, it was obvious how aggressive the bass were.
It's topwater season!

Really great stuff Mike...was just out there 4/23 up in the flooded Tonto end and had lots of topwater action as well as flukes, wacky rigged senkos and one on a chatterbait.

I've always wanted to launch my kayak from Orange Peel but wasn't sure how easy it is to launch from there. I usually launch from a trailer, but looking at Google Maps, it doesn't look possible. Is it hard packed to be able to use a cart? And it doesn't look like there's much parking there.

Hi, it's very easy to launch from Orange Peel, even with a trailer. There isn't a ton of parking, especially on the weekends, so get there early. Alternatively, you could launch across the lake at Indian Point Campground. They have an actual boat ramp and plenty of parking. That's what I do if I can't park at orange peel.

do they hit all year round out here in AZ? i used ot love fishing out in the MW but havent given it too much of a try out here yet. just bought a kayak and would like to give a try.

They sure do. I went out 90 times last year and caught over 500 fish, mostly bass. I was skunked only 9 times all of last year.
