Milk's an interesting thing because it's the only food where sell by dates are actually legally regulated, because there's an actual health risk associated with it. On the other hand, there have been some cases like in Greece where the sell by date is intentionally put real low at 5 days so that Italian dairy farmers can't possibly compete.
