Yes, the Africans participated in the most horrific abuse on humans in the history of the world. Millions of humans being were captured and sold into 400 year of the cruelest and most demeaning conditions. Even today the American government sees unarmed Black men as a creature for hunting.

This is what I loved about Roots. They took their time and developed the characters and the story lines. I distinctly remember much of this clip. The white man shooting at the bird and the gun malfunctioning in his hands was almost certainly a well- researched event, that guns were not as easy and practical to use as they are now.

One of things I liked about the original 1977 Roots was how the used a lot of actors from family friendly shows. Like Robert Reed from the Brady Bunch as Master Renyolds, Chuck Conners from the Rifleman as Tom Moore, and so on.

I’m not black but when the elder tells the young ones to stay on guard against the white man this is very much true today and not just against white people and not just applying to black people. There are people who will take advantage of you and your own people will lead you to them. Get your morals and values straight, realize life is sacred and do not be loyal to people just because they pretend to be your own but be loyal to the ones who are really your own by virtue.

The Africans enslaved Europeans. That was no picnic either. The North American Indian enslaved each other. Africans enslaved each other. Europeans enslaved each other. And the Enslavement for 700 years of Southern Europeans to the Middle East by African Muslim Moors? Was that an achievement? That is what lead to the African slave trade to the Americas just 100 years later. It’s time to ask the Middle East why they are hiding their involvement in this slavery mess. What the Southern Europeans did to the African slaves was done to themselves for 1700 years, first by the Roman Empire then the African Moors who occupied Southern Europe and slaved it for 700 years up to 1492. Everyone was enslaved and everyone enslaved including all Africans no one is innocent not even the Natives of North and South America they all did the same thing throughout history which is to enslave and have no empathy for humanity…But I guess that’s how all Empires are built.

Members of certain tribes sold members from other tribes Back then, there was no notion of race in the way it's currently conceptualized, since race in its modern form appeared in the 18th century with the classification of races. Historically speaking, people have identified with their tribe, or concepts along that spectrum. Whites don't refer to themselves as whites among themselves, they talk about their roots, French, German, Anglo-Saxon, etcetera. It is so for every people group. Hence, this notion that "Africans sold Africans" is misrepresentation of what occurred from the perspective of the people living in that time (at least the so called "Africans"). This narrative is pushed by the sons of the bloodthirsty colonizers, to try to take away the spotlight from the inhumane actions of their ancestors. God will judge and punish the unrighteous. Justice will be served, and what they have done to others will happen to them, as it as been written. Repent while you have time.

Only issue I had with this movie was, africans do not call them white men. They are actually called red men if u translated it literally to English

What you see happening here is in the (Bible) book of Joel 3:6 The blacks selling the African Americans are not the same people. these are Nilotic Africans, the Bible called them the tribes of HAM (Noah’s 2nd son) Moses was mistaken for a descendent of Ham (chronicles 1:8) in the book of exodus 2:18-19, also in the New Testament Paul was mistaken for an Egyptian (Acts 21:38-39). This proves the Jews were Black & so we’re the ancient Egyptians

Someone knows what they're talking about. Ham had slaves and made deals with Yapheth to continue selling, buying, and maybe trading the sons of Shem (Yisraelites). Deutronomy in my eyes with what you said.

Excellent movie 🎬 I was 9 when it aired. I remember having watched it and going to school that next week. Tension😠 in the air!😤🤣 Alex Haley got sued over the movie. There was a book that was similar called "the African" That being said. Great movie. Just remember most of our people were already here. We didn't come on the boat. We are indigenous

Probably earlier, slavery is another terrible biproduct of war. Since the dawn of civilization there have been wars and most of the time the time, many of the losing side were enslaved or worse.
