Jess this is going to sound crazy but, In some doggy thought process way, Gabriel's hiding his food dish is akin to your finding your misplaced coffee mugs. He's imitating you; you carry your bowl (mug) around and then put it down only to happily discover it later - like a game. Gabriel does the same. How cute is that. :)

I just lost 8 flats of tomatoes and peppers today from the wind blowing over my greenhouse. It was an almost give up kind of day... But then I saw the vision I had for a lush garden and I pushed through. I put the greenhouse back together, repotted the seeds I could and set a reminder to go pick up some more seeding soil. The joy I feel walking around the garden and putting homegrown food on the table is worth every frustrating moment between.

Have you thought of planting Elderberry on the north side of your greenhouse? I can see rose bushes lining the path up to the greenhouse. Love all of your puppies, the two big ones are both wonderful working dogs and each were breed for a specific reason and appear to be wonderful at their jobs. The little one is doing her job at being the best friend of your little one, you can see the love in her eyes when she looks at him. All the four legged and two legged (chickens) are blessed to have ended up on a farm like yours because they get the love and attention that they deserve. How the cows react to Miah is adorable to witness. Keep up the good work with all that you do and dream of.

I grew up on a farm where my daddy grew row crops. My brother and I worked on the farm every summer, hard, hot, dirty work. But I learned what it took to grow things to harvest, especially in the GIANT garden Daddy planted. My mother canned and froze all summer long until she was 80. Then she said she was done. But she always planted flowers. My maternal grandmother had a huge yard with all kinds of trees, shrubs, perennials, roses, etc. So when I work in my yard, weeding, mulching, planting, whatever. I have no music or sound except what is going on around me, and I pray. I worship, I talk to my mama and my grandma; I just enjoy being out in God’s world figuring out what looks pretty where, and maybe planting a rose or two. I am still a farm girl at heart. Be a good student of your land, so you can be a good steward of it. Blessings!

Hi Jess - my CA daughter-in-law, an avid gardener, found your channel, and suggested I watch - we live and (try to) garden in Little River, SC, near the coast - we have family in Lexington, SC, and used to live in Orangeburg (ancient history!). Peaches do very well in SC - we grow more peaches than Georgia! I grow roses, and have found you need to get disease-resistant, humidity resistant types - carpet roses do well, and, of course, knock-out roses. For trees, River Birch does really well if it gets enough water the first year - it grows fast and the lower branches can be pruned to keep its shape. And crepe myrtles do very well, and come in all kinds of shape and sizes, as well as colors - some can grow up to 20 feet, if you need shade - just don't "murder" them; some grow more upright, like the Watermelon ones, and some grow more wide. I'm really looking forward to learning from you - I've had so many "fails", as even though we're zone 8, July and August are very hard on my garden.

Question: Do you feel the same thing that I do during Golden Hour? It seems to me that the earth quits revolving, everything is still, the birds are quiet, the air is still, the life is standing in awe of Gods' creation. I would say it is a perfect time to worship our Maker - in his earth. I have a 'sittin stump' in my wee tiny garden and during that hour, I sit and just appreciate the silence that blankets the earth. I'm so thankful to be able to enjoy it that way. I also say a little thank you for encouraging flowers/'lovely things' to keep in my garden so I appreciate it even more. Today I ordered some quote magnets from your store just to keep in my garden rows to make sure I remember to keep it filled with beauty, also. I have some tall, metal plant markers that I can place them on. I will smile and think of you and your encouragement. Thank you Jess & Miah!

I'm in NC, I am also a creative type. I have always thought of nature as my cathedral, the closest I've felt to God has been in my garden, bare hands in the dirt (forgotten gloves behind me somewhere), planting, watering, weeding, and sharing the bounty of the garden and my chickens. Chronic conditions changed my mobility/energy 95%. But this year, I hired my handyman, to help with a new larger coop, and an accessible system of grow bags on benches, so I can get back to growing/sharing at some level. I'm so happy you and your family are living the beautiful life.
