My experience with these rope chainsaw cutters is that you need two people. If you are working alone - the angle of the pull ropes is too close together so when the chain bites into the limb it will typically get stuck - especially when the branch or limb starts to sag. The best way that I've found is to keep the angle as flat as possible by using two people - in a seesawing action. Keeping the angle as flat as possible reduces - but does not eliminate pinching. My wife and I have cut some sizable limbs off with this method - but we use long pull ropes on the ends of the cutting chain and are maybe 30' apart on the ground. Just my 2 cents.

I'm alone, and the way you could pull it off with one person is to be someone that uses heavy kettlebells. These are perfect for looping the other side of the rope through the handle - and the kb is on the other side of the branch (basically the stand-in for the other non existent person), and the rest is the same... you're pulling both ends back and forth on your own One of these days I'll get myself a woman though.

Most of what people have been saying about avoiding getting stuck is working in pairs and making sure the angle is greater than 45 degrees. This means less kinking of the chain and less wearing your out.

regular saws need oiling so trying using oil on the blades next time
@HVYMTL
@HVYMTL 3 жыл бұрын
The oil in a powered chainsaw is for the chain to glide within the track on the bar. The oil Doesn't really have anything to do with the blade teeth cutting the wood. Such a flexible chain/teeth with no real guide or tension with little control is just what it is. Works great sometimes for some situations (Wood type, angle of cut, length of rope, etc) and this tool is a nightmare for others

Pile on a bunch of dish soap to keep it from getting stuck. (on your chain)

I cut the ties off my lines and spliced them back together. I trust that connection between the line and saw blade more now.

you can remove stuck chain by throwing one side of the rope back over the tree so that both ends of the rope are on one side. then pull the whole chain down.

Did the saw have teeth on both sides? I found it difficult to tell. I think that's the most important feature for one of these saws that is to be used on trees.

Was wondering about getting the blade stuck. If your working alone a pulley tied off to your lawn tractor might help.

The pulley acts like a second person, you stand on the opposite side the truck is and the rope that goes through the pulley comes back to you where you're standing.
