Rope Cuts Into Seal

The seal looks chubby and healthy, but the rope looped around his neck would have changed that quickly. The rescuers could feel how severe his wound was as they pulled the rope out. The seal visibly reacted to the sudden pain when the rope was removed. This is the part of their job the rescuers hate the most-causing pain to help. Without their intervention, it was only a matter of time before starvation, suffocation, or infection claimed his life.

Poor thing, he couldn't keep up with the other seals, probably because of too much pain. But now this seal's wound can heal and hopefully he'll get his strength back real soon. Thanks guys!❤️🦭

Ouch, so painful 😢. Pelastuksen aikana kipu kestää vain hetken, verrattuna jos hyljettä ei olisi huomattu. Thank you, Naude, Denzil and Antoine, 🙌❤🙌. Much appreciation for your work ❣💯, Team OCN.

Ouch! That one stung as the rope was pulled out. Little juvie soon forgot his pain as he leapt out of the net. Nice new invention Tony- it will help keep tasty fingers away from sharp little teeth! Well done gentlemen 🦭🌊💙

This wound was bad and the neck looked swollen just above where the line was. Poor Naude who knows pulling on the string caused pain and apologised to the seal. Thank you for making sure he can heal now. He'll feel so much better from now on.

When the fiendish instrument of pain starts to mimic the coloring book of a chameleon, only OCN's teamwork can stand in its way, but it's our responsibility to keep fighting against the pollution problem. Well done, Antoine, for bringing back the 'Wally rope' 🥰🦭🛟♻️🧡

Love the way you talk to him, reassurance and apologies. You all have a wonderful bedside manner. Denzil, like your other guardians is also a gifted healer/servant. You are all so amazing, as are the creatures you serve! Love seeing that you are all constantly innovating and refining tools and techniques to better keep all of you, creatures and guardians safe, like the new type of rope release. Keep at it! Keep innovating! Keep healing! We will keep at it here too! Be safe.

Thank you for your kind words! While we’re deeply committed to helping the seals, we know our work is just a small part of a much bigger battle. Our rescues highlight the urgent need to address the root causes of ocean pollution-like our reliance on single-use plastics and the gaps in law enforcement and recycling efforts. By sharing these stories, we hope to inspire real change that goes beyond treating the symptoms and starts tackling the problem at its source.
