Looks like you needed some 2700K or even warmer color rope light. I'd probably try cutting open the old section to repair the break instead of replacing with LED.

I managed to get some tungsten rope light in the end that is an exact match. But the led mistake I found funny so let it in. Trouble with cutting is repairing the cut to make it safe from shocks. As this is going back to someone who might not be electrically minded so to speak.
