Just bought first set of sticks got to lose the buckle. Thanks for clear easy to understand information. I’m also learning I could have bought a single stick except I have to first make sure I can do the maneuvers. Guys on KZbin make it look easy but I’m 70 not 30.

Tried this on my API versa buttons. Even worked with parachord though I obviously dont recommend that. I think as long as it bites on that rope it dosent matter what diameter it is. Great video bud! Helped a lot

On a recent podcast you mentioned that you are using wildedge steps with an aider. Can you do video on that?

Do you get any slippage down the tree from using rope vs straps?
@thesouthernoutdoorsmen4 жыл бұрын
generally the stick will set down an inch or two as you put weight on it, similar to how it is with a cam straps. Maybe slightly more than with cam straps though.

Do y’all still use the rope mods?

Palm trees and cypress trees have slicker bark and the decreased surface area contact involved with switching from a strap to a rope style MAY be a safety consideration for Florida Hunters . I have not personally tried a rope mod on these trees but would love to hear the opinion of those who have .
@thesouthernoutdoorsmen6 жыл бұрын
Interesting point. While we don't have any of those trees in my neck of the woods we do have some other stuff that's similar in bark composition.... in my experience the stick normally will seat down farther than normal (maybe 2-3 inches). Its been safe for me but the big issue is that sometimes the bark of the tree will like squeak or make some other unwanted noise when putting weight on the stick.

Thanks for the input; that gives me a little more confidence. If I try it out I’ll send a confirming comment response

Do you use the rope mod for the stand as well ?
@thesouthernoutdoorsmen5 жыл бұрын
we don't, and would not recommend it. The downfall of this method is that we have not found out a way to get it as tight as a buckle. With any method you'll have the stick have to "seat" down when you put weight on it, and it always sits down more with rope mods. because of that I don't think these would work too well with a stand.

You should go under the button instead of over. It will cause the rope to lock tighter and more secure.
